After walking to the Panoramic view of Lake Como we decided to have lunch in this restaurant as the view from the balcony looked spectacular. We walked in and were offered a table inside, as we could see tables still on the balcony we asked for one of them. Whilst they sorted menus i made a quick visit to the ladies, after having to queue for the 1 and only toilet, which had no loo roll (and i informed them of that) i came back to the table to find the menu somewhat limiting. My husband wanted a salad as it was lunchtime, as did i but there were none on the menu, not to mention the items on the menu were just not to our taste. As we got up i went to apologise and explain that unfortunately it was not to our liking. Her response was next time dont come here just to use the toilet. Now, im in the hospitality trade and so would never do that but, her response is not something i would have done just based on our interaction. Why would we request a table on the balcony if all we wanted was the toilet? Why would i inform her there was no tissue, highlighting my using the toilet if i planned on not eating anything? Its not my fault we didnt like what was on your highly limited menu, but after experiencing your bad attitude, im glad we didnt spend any money now! Rude, arrogant woman (reddish, short curly hair,...
Read moreWe made a booking for noon at the terrace, our plan was just to grab a coffee with those amazing views. When we ordered our coffee and water, the lady was very surprised how in the world we thought that "at a restaurant" we just wanted a coffee and not some food as well. Since we didn't like her arrogance, we decided to leave. Also, if you're a smoker, you can't smoke on the terrace although it's outside. We understand the restaurant's rules, but if we have known in advance that it's mandatory to eat, we wouldn't have tried to go there.
Later edit since I can't reply to this Trattoria's answer: It's funny that you're saying that we're the first ones ever that wanted just to admire the beautiful panorama from your terrace and didn't wanted to eat (and to grab just a coffee), since there are many others here complaining about the same issue. The waitress' rudeness (who I believe it's the same person that replied to my review) shouldn't be allowed in the beautiful world of Italian hospitality services. How about just mentioning from the beginning that it's mandatory to eat before grabbing a seat. I'm wondering if ordering just a dessert, and not a whole meal, would have been...
Read moreHorrendous tourist trap! We wanted a drink about 4.30 on a Tuesday evening and thought it would be nice to look at the lovely view from the terrace. However the weather wasn’t great and it was cool so we asked if we could have it inside. The waitress said this was fine but the female owner, we presume, came over and made it clear we could only have the table for 20 mins as it would be required for dining customers. Fine but the place was very quiet as was the area itself. The staff seemed on edge and nervous and it made us feel uneasy as did the bill! 2 average tasting small glasses of wine for €17, no added extras, but this also included a cover charge! We love Italy and visit 3 or 4 times a year but have never experienced this. We don’t usually leave such negative reviews as we also own our own hospitality bars/restaurants and know what it can be like but pride ourselves on treating customers with respect. Clearly many of the other reviewers also experienced similar problems. Sorry we can’t possibly...
