Before leaving Milan for the long weekend from May 1st to 4th, we decided to secure dinner for May 3rd in Caorle. We knew we would be spending the day there and wanted a typical local place to eat. I called—maybe 20 days in advance—and booked a table over the phone for May 3rd at 7:30 PM at Taverna Caorlina.
The day comes, and a few minutes before the scheduled time, we show up at the restaurant only to find a “funny” sign that reads: “Closed Today.” We approach and ask: “Excuse us… we had a dinner reservation for five.” A visibly embarrassed woman says: “Let me get the manager.” He comes out and says, “How can I help you?”
I introduce myself by name and explain: “Look, I booked from Milan, I called you, and you even asked for my phone number to confirm.” And the manager replies: “I don’t think so. We’re closed for a communion!” I try to insist: “Come on, do you really think I came all the way from Milan and made up a reservation at your restaurant??”
“No way,” the owner responds stubbornly. At that point, a thought crosses my mind: “It’s a sign from fate!” In fact, just a few minutes earlier, a lady at a local Caorle shop had warned us against this place, sharing a horrifying personal experience. But we had booked from Milan—were we really going to cancel? Of course not. Well, when fate calls, and you realize rudeness knows no bounds, we decided to find another place for dinner.
Summary: I had no proof of the reservation, foolishly didn’t ask for an email or SMS confirmation, but the owner's attitude in a situation like this reveals the foolishness of someone clearly asking for a terrible review—and here it is! An apology and maybe a complimentary glass of prosecco (even if declined) would have been enough, and the world would have never known how disgraceful these people are. And out of respect for that local shop owner, I won’t share what happened to them, but trust me—it would have been enough to make you change your mind about where to eat!
DO NOT book here. NOT because I know how the food is, but because more important than eating well is knowing whose home you're eating in—and these people don’t deserve a single euro of your money. They could have apologized, admitted there had been a misunderstanding—God knows, it happens! But the arrogance with which we were treated and dismissed is inexcusable. They deserve to close. This review will be rewritten in every language I can think of—yes, because we Italians are a minority among Caorle’s tourists… Do the owners even know that?

Read moreMy wife, our 1.5 year old daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights in early July and had an absolutely wonderful time. The owner and his staff went well out of their way to make us feel at home - and we did . Yes, the parking was 200 meters down the road, but with 24 hour access and security and FREE it was hard to beat. The FREE access to a beautiful beach with an umbrella and 2 chairs was hard to beat. The 10% discount on all food from their taverna was a welcome finding. And the food was excellent. They would fit us in to the restaurant whenever we showed up, with little if any wait. We had to leave very earlyon our day of departure and they went out of their way to put breakfast out for us, well before they usually did. The room with bathroom were contemporary and good sized, and fit the provided crib easily. The location was fantastic, right in the heart of the pedestrian area, and the windows would soundproof the room for a perfect night's rest. One last note - when we came back from the beach, and upon request, Giorgio would bring a tray of wine and beer to our room to help us cool down and prepare for dinner. Bravo Giorgio! We were made to feel like welcomed guests and family and they made doing this look effortless. We live less than 2 hours from here and will...
