Ristorante La Porta, Terrazza Panoramica — Restaurant in Capalbio

Pleasntly pearched in the pretty village of Capalbio in a prominent position overlooking the surrounding valley.particularly from the outdoor tables set along the ancient walls. The view at sunset are spectacular. However if this is what you go to Capalbio for it can be had for free by just taking a stroll around the village. If you want to compliment the experience by sitting down with a nice meal i would strongly recommend to avoid La Porta restaurant.

Sat at 8.00 and left by 9.00 pm after trying to fend off an insistent lady waiter who was desperate to take our order even after i explained i needed time to traslate the menu to my guests. She kept coming back and did not let go.until we ordered.

We opted for an antipasto of salumi and crostini which came within a minute, having been probably sitting somewhere. Average and below standard salami, prosciutto and some dried sausages. Crostini soggy and unappetising. Highly disappointing.

Mine and my guest grilled wild board steak , which apparently this restaurant is known for was, to say the least ,inedible. Fatty, tough and insipid .My other two guests complained that their t bone steak was average and their wild boar sausages very salty. The side dishes of roast peppers and tomatoes rather forgettable.

We took the decision to leave as none of us wanted to stay any longer to experience their desserts or anything else for that matter and asked for the bill

Needless to say the insistent lady waiter who disappeared after the plates were collected with most of the food not eaten re surfaced quickly with the bill eager for us to go.

We left some cash on the table and left without an hint of acknowledgement from anyone.or even attempting to complain about anything.

Touristy , overpriced , indifferent service and sub standard food. If this is what you want from a night out than give La Porta your hard earned cash, alternatively...

Great view and location but mediocre food and terrible service. Lots of waiters but they don't seem to be doing anything most of the time as they were sitting on a bench chatting throughout the evening. A lady waiter was insisting in taking the order but other than the clearly pre made appetizers food was slow to arrive. In fact food all came at very different times. We had to chase up wine, part of the order, and try to grab the attention of a waiter to get more water on a hot evening. The specialty is supposedly meat and game but it seemed mediocre to us, tasty but fatty, overly charred, small portions and no effort in presentation. For the price (on the higher end in the area) you might as well cook the food at home. Dietary restrictions are clearly marked on the menu but they didn't have gluten free...

ABZOCKE! Wir waren zu Zweit Mitte Mai dort. Das Ambiente ist schön - das waren dann allerdings schon die guten Erfahrungen.

Zum Essen: Wir haben Hirsch gewählt, jeweils mit unterschiedlichen Beilagen, die extra kosten. Vorab wurden uns 4 Scheiben Weissbrot serviert. Dann kam der Hirsch. Fast ungenießbar! Am Knochen, das Fleisch konnte man kaum davon lösen. Das, was man abbekam, war so unglaublich zäh, dass man gefühlt minutenlang kauen musste, um es zu schlucken.

Der Salat (als Beilage für jeweils EUR 4,00) entpuppte sich als ein bißchen lieblos kleingeschnippelter Romasalat in einer kleinen Schüssel und - auch für EUR 4,00 - als 2 geviertelte, fast noch unreife und harte Tomaten. Die zwei großen Bier, die wir bestellt hatten, kamen in Flaschen - zusammen mit 2 schmutzigen Gläsern. Selbsteinschenken war angesagt. Pro Bier: EUR 6,00!

Die Bedienung: Lustlos, langsam, kein Lächeln, keinerlei Bemühen uns als offensichtliche Ausländer zu verstehen oder uns weiterzuhelfen.

Nächste Überraschung bei der Rechnung: Das zu Beginn unaufgefordert servierte Weissbrot (4 trockene Scheiben, ohne Dip oder ähnliches), war mit EUR 4,00 auf der Rechnung aufgeführt!!

Nur so nebenbei: Ich musste zwischendurch auf die Toilette, bin im Restaurant herumgeirrt. Obwohl alle Bediensteten dies sahen - kein Hinweis, keine Frage nach meinem Anliegen, nichts.

Offensichtlich handelt es sich um einen Familienbetrieb - zumindest sahen alle Personen, die bedienten, gleich aus. Wie - das führe ich hier nicht näher aus.......

Wir haben wortlos unsere Rechnung bezahlt und waren froh, diese Lokalität schnellstmöglich zu verlassen.

ABZOCKE!! Wenn man im Restaurant (sei es im Ausland oder im Inland) einmal überteuert isst, oder das Essen schlecht ist - sei's drum. Habe ich schon oft erlebt und meistens bereits einen Tag später bereits vergessen. Aber diese Vorstellung, diese unglaubliche Dreistigkeit und Unverfrorenheit habe ich so noch niemals erlebt. Tatsächlich habe ich noch NIE einen Bericht über einen Restaurantbesuch geschrieben - und ich war im Leben bereits in vielen Restaurants! :-) Aber dieses Erlebnis toppt - mit Ausschlag nach unten - alles, was ich bisher erlebt habe.

Liebe Mitleser: Vor diesem "Restaurant" kann ich nur eindringlich warnen!! Wer's nicht glaubt: Probiert's aus. Aber: In unmittelbarer Nähe sind weitere Restaurants, die SEHR nett und freundlich sind - geht lieber dorthin, ihr werdet es...
