Bar nettuno was truly an unforgettable experience. We arrived just before dinner service started and got the best seat in the house for the view of the sunset, mountains and sea. We started with some drinks and were incredibly pleased with the Bellini and the Nettuno cocktail. Drinks were served with chips which made us QUICK friends with the local kitties 😻😻
For dinner we started off with the most generous serving of tuna tartare that melted in your mouth. We did add EVOO & S&P but even plain it was very good quality fish. the busiante with shrimp & pistachio may be the best pasta dish I’ve ever eaten. We also got the linguine with clams which was very tasty (but impossible to compare to the first dish)
For probably the first time in history I was much too full for dessert, but I will mark this as a MUST visit for any of my friends visiting Sicily...

The food was simple, not something you could not prepare at home, but it was OK. The Tuna with pistachio crust was very tasty and fresh. The octopus was as tough as old boots, served on a bean paste that resembled thick lentil soup. The pasta was nice enough and a large portion, but the amount of swordfish in the pasta was tiny, just a few small pieces. We tried the ragu, just to see if it was any different to what you make at home and it wasn’t. We had the mixed fried fish which was just OK, not a big portion for the price and mainly just calamari, a baby octopus a couple of large whitebait-like fish, and three small shrimps. All in all it wasn’t bad but I would not be drawn to...
Read moreBar Nettuno in Scopello, Sicily specialises in seafood but does have some vegetarian options and also continues their sandwiches, burgers and salads into the evening - which is good if you don't fancy fish.
Located under the archway in Scopello main square, the evening atmosphere is buzzy and the food is good. Not amazing, hence not 5 stars. We had a pasta with aubergine (melanzane) and tomato (pomodoro) which was a decent enough portion to leave room for dessert, and a prawn and pistachio pasta which was quite good. We did notice a couple next to us that had a fish dish that didn't seem to be on the menu so try asking the waiter for any specials.
The square has some other restaurants, shops and bars and makes for a good evening spot.
For dessert I'd definitely recommend heading to Pasticceria Scopello which is just out the arch in...
