Dag ristorante pinseria — Restaurant in Castelvetrano

One of the best restaurants in this little town.

Situated on the beach front with a beautiful view, Dag has a varied menu of classic Italian dishes (pizza, pasta and fish) that would make anyone happy.

The service is friendly for the most part - it gets quite busy so understandably the waiters are rushed at times. A couple of them had conversational English, which helped us when we had to mention a dietary requirement.

The food is all rustic and delicious, I had the bolognese one time and the carbonara another - both times the pasta was fresh and the sauces rich in flavour. I ordered the calamari on both visits, which was consistently tender and tasty! It would have been perfect if served with some lemon mayonnaise or tartare sauce. My dining partner had pizza, which was also good. The dough was on the thicker side and perhaps slightly too much cheese (and we love cheese!).

Full of locals, which is surely a good sign!

Why have I not given 5 stars? The meals didn't blow me away but they were consistent, tasty and up to standard - I would recommend...

Non capisco tutte le recensioni positive, considerando la pessima esperienza in tutto e per tutto. Appena arrivati, vi erano dei posti all'esterno, il personale di sala è sembrato da subito gentile, il problema è stato successivamente. Sedendoci ai tavoli abbiamo aspettato oltre 30 minuti SOLAMENTE per ricevere i menù, ma non da parte dei camerieri totalmente inesperti, bensì da un signore che probabilmente lavorava all'interno. Dopo averci chiesto cosa volevamo ordinare, gli abbiamo fatto notare al signore che non avevano portato nemmeno il menù. Abbiamo aspettato circa altri 10 minuti prima di ricevere il menù. Le pizze ordinate sono arrivate con un margine di tempistica di circa 45 minuti che potrebbe rientrare in ambito ristorativo, ma non pizzeria, considerando che le altre persone non prendevano la pizza, ma avevano scelto una cena classica (mentre aspettavamo ho avuto tutto il tempo di questo mondo per guardare i camerieri girare a destra e manca e le persone cenare). Praticamente dalle ore 20:30 abbiamo cenato intorno le 22:10, non oso immaginare se volevamo una cena. Le pizze sembravano uscite da dentro un vulcano, praticamente il balcone del bordo pizza duro e bruciato, condimenti quasi inesistenti, l'unico tasto positivo era che il centro pizza era mangiabile e quanto meno aveva un sapore decente. Di sicuro non consiglio il posto, se si pecca di professionalità un conto, ma se si deve cenare dopo circa due ore e anche male, tanto vale andare altrove. Peccato non aver fatto una foto a quelle pizze per pubblicarle, ma l'unica cosa a cui pensavo era di...

We stayed in selinunte for a week and this was the best family friendly restaurant that we found. We ate evening dinner here twice and enjoyed our experience on both occasions. The service is very warm and friendly, especially from the lady at the front of house (who speaks good English too). The atmosphere is great on the seafront and the lights add a nice touch.
