Ristorante La Terrazza — Restaurant in Castiglione del Lago

We have been regular visitors to L'Angolo del Buon Gustaio in Castiglione del Lago over the years - but now Riccardo Poggiani has surpassed himself with the opening of La Terrazza right across the road. On stepping inside, one immediately has the sense of something really world class. This fairly new restaurant is decorated with a modern decor and gives the sense of calmness and coolness on this 32 degree day. We had booked for lunch and were seated out on the terrace under the large umbrella with the beautiful vista of Lago Trasimeno before us. There were 4 of us and we all found it difficult to decide on our meals - the menu covered everything, particularly seafood and of course lake fish. So, after a shared seafood platter and an Aperol Spritz we finally made our decisions on food and wine. Our choices didn't disappoint - everything was superb. And of course served by efficient waitresses who were discreet, but onto our every wish! This is a must stop when in the northern Perugia area. My only suggestion would be to book if you would like a table on the terrace on a fine summers day! I don't think I have the words to describe how good this restaurant was. From the guy behind the bar at the front who welcomed us in, and then the beautiful lady on the till in the restaurant who asked me if I was a Sheikh, and proceeded to treat me and my family like royalty, the waiter who served us was truly a master of table service. And to the regal views of the lake. My son had a fish pasta, which he loved, me and my wife ordered the 4seasons pizza, as the menu didn't say it contained ham, and unfortunately we were too uncultured to know 4seasons pizza always contains ham. The waiter quickly took them away and explained to us 4seasons always has ham, And then baked fresh 4seasons pizza without ham.(vegitarian) The service was truly top class. If you want to feel special and see Italian hospitality at its finest, this is definitely the place to go. If you love beautiful views this place is definitely worth a visit. We’ve been in Italy now for 3 1/2 weeks. We have been to some exceptional restaurants throughout Tuscany, staying in very high-end hotels with wonderful chefs, and it was only finally here at this location that my wife found what she believed to be the perfect Pasta Lavongle! She was truly in heaven. I had the oven fired Pizza Diavalo. It was delicious. And the view is exceptional. Don’t judge the place by the front entrance.
