Ristorante La Cantina — Restaurant in Castiglione del Lago

First of all; the pizza's we're delicious. No complaints about that.

But....we arrived early because our daughter of 3 was hungry. So we arrived around 18:30. The staff was in full preparation for the evening and we're stressful (also because of the weather (it started raining)). We felt their stress, because they we're pushing us to order. So we did order our pizza's quick. Then...our pizza's arrived, but the waiter only gave the pizza to my girlfriend and brought the other 2 pizza's to a wrong table. The same waiter asked us if we needed an extra plate (because he gave us only 1 pizza). I told him we ordered 2 more pizza's (and named them...because I already thought he brought them to the wrong table). He walked away and did not came back. We had to ask his collegue when the other 2 pizza's will arrive. She did not say much (or what she said was in Italian), but she said they will arrive soon. They did...they arrived in 10 minutes.

The thing is; I'm 100% sure they gave 2 of our 3 pizza's to the wrong table (sad for the other table, because 1 of the pizza's was a baby pizza). But they never gave any apologies. It is so simple to say sorry we made a mistake. The waiter who made the mistake knew he made the mistake (and his collegues too after a while). Just say sorry and everything is ok.

Again the pizza's we're great, but...

We were very excited to have dinner in this restaurant. The view is beautiful, however; when we sat down to eat at 18:00 a lady waitress told us we could only order pizza till 19:00. Since I really wanted to try the pasta we decided to share a pizza and then wait till 19:00 to share a pasta. After a while the lady waitress was replaced with another waitor (bald man). We explained to him that we told his colleague we wanted to order a pizza and later a pasta. He told us he didn't know what we had agreed on and honestly did not seem to care. He just seemed bothered. So, we ordered a 4 stagioni pizza but without gorgonzola. The pizza was served with gorgonzola, so I couldn't eat the pizza, but my boyfriend did. Then at 19:00 we finally wanted to order the pasta we had been waiting for. Then the waitor told us we couldn't order any other food until 19:30! And also, our tabel was reserved by someone else!! (there was no sign of reservation on the table when we arrived) so we were forced to leave, yet had to pay the €5 for 'service'. The worst service we have had in Italy for sure. We will...

The biggest problem for this restaurant is the customer service. inside the restaurant there was no one to welcome us. The head waiter dismissed us after a short comment on our question showing a lack of interest in the customer. Personnel was slow and absent from the table floor making communication hard. We got asked to order as soon as we walked in and when we asked for a bit more time we were forgotten. The food took 1h to arrive and it was not that great either. I ordered some paccheri with a "white cream" which is just lots of olive oil. My friend ordered some pasta with truffles which honestly had no truffle flavour. The home wine was terrible and only tastes of alcool. The food is really heavy on the stomach and not that flavourful, it's just full of butter/oil. The only bright side is the amazing view which is thanks to the wonderful Italian region. reconsider the choice of this restaurant because it is not representative of the amazing Italian cousine.
