La Torre — Hotel in Castiglione del Lago

We had a lovely stay at quiet and pretty Castiglione del Lago and hotel La Torre functioned perfectly well as our base camp. The town itself is small but very nice and the location makes it fantastic to go around the lake Trasimeno and visit the surrounding Umbrian and Tuscan villages. Hotel room was spacious, but a bit noisy. Bed comfortable. Everything worked really nicely. Breakfast was good, especially coffee and sweet pastries. The staff is super friendly and helpful. In TripAdvisor, there is a mention that the hotel rents bikes, but it is not. However they will happily advice where to get bikes - and exactly where we rented ours for 2 days. There is also an e-bike rental directly at the old town, but we wanted manual ones so there is in a rental place within short walking distance from the hotel. We had a wonderful stay at hotel La Torre and I would recommend it to couples who want to see around...

You couldn't ask for a more central location in Castiglione del Lago. The ownerfamily are extremely kind and genuinely interested in making you feel at home. the rooms and beds are comfortable; there is plenty of hot water; everything is kept spotlessly clean and there is good lighting in the bathroom.||||Factors to consider: there are a number of stairs up to the rooms. The breakfast area is either down a corkscrew stairwell or you have to go out and around to the back of the property to access it. You can unload in the little square near the hotel, but then must take your car a few blocks down to the Belvedere parallel and below the main street. It's just a fact of life in the ancient village, there is no parking-but keep this in mind in inclement weather.||||While the room decor was not to our taste, this is a very fair and good value hotel. Bei meiner Umrundung des Lago Trasimeno in 2 Etappen ab Magione über San Savino war Castiglione del Lago die erste Station.||Ein sehr schöner alter Ort mit Castell (was zu besichtigen ist) mit Altstadt, die mich an Fano an der Adriaküste (sh. meine Beiträge hierzu) erinnerte.||Ich hatte mich vorher in Bezug auf Hotels im historischen Zentrum orientiert und drei||herausgesucht.||Das Hotel war ein Glücksgriff und sehr gut für eine Nacht (singulärer One-night-stand).||Die Lage ist genial in der Hauptmeile (Via Vittorio Emanuele) des Geschehens...||Aber da ja nun die Lage nicht das einzig selig machende ist (sh. Hotel Negre Coste Aix-en-Provence) ist der Blick nach drinnen immer besser.||Das Ambiente wirkte auf mein emotionales (Hotel)-Gedächtnis sofort positiv.||Da ich nicht weiss, wohin mit dem Geld, legte ich dem Herrn an der Rezeption||sofort das Papiergeld auf den Tisch.||Zu meinem Erstaunen gab er mir nach meinem Wunsch (Zimmer mit Doppelbett) ||erst den Schlüssel, dass ich mir erst einmal das Zimmer ansehen sollte, ob es mir gefällt.||Also das nenne ich Service und vorausschauendes Denken.||Ich habe auf meinen ganzen Touren unzählige Hotels durchlaufen, aber nirgendwo||konnte ich mir vorher das Zimmer ansehen, ob es mir gefällt oder nicht!||So etwas hinterläßt Eindruck...||Das Zimmer war gross mit Doppelbett, sehr schönes Ambiente, sauberes schon fast luxuriöses Badezimmer.||Nach den 25 km der ersten Etappe stürzte ich mich natürlich als erstes unter die Dusche, egal wie das Badezimmer ausgesehen hätte.||Abendlicher Bummel durch die Gassen, als solches gesehen war dies der Hochpunkt der mühevollen 72,21 km-Tour um den See.||Das lag ja nicht nur an diesem Hotel, aber trotzdem hat das Hotel das seinige dazu beigetragen.||Das Frühstück am nächsten Morgen war im kleinen Rahmen, aber akzeptabel.||Es war besser als das Hotel in Perugia, wesentlich besser, obwohl die Preise nicht so weit auseinander lagen.||Jetzt stelle man sich einmal vor, es wäre ein dualer One-night-stand gewesen...||bei der Ambiente ...||... ob ich dann natürlich um den ganzen See gekommen wäre, ist...
