Amocù — Restaurant in Catania

I agree with a previous reviewer, the food and place are a little “tacky”. Location is nice, although there’s trash right next to the entrance. Their terrace is a little dirty, and is more of a bar than a restaurant when it comes to the table setting and cleanness. My hope here was that paying 17€ for a dish of rice, we would get something out of the ordinary, instead it was just not worth the extra bucks. Presentation was not like the pictures, quantity was limited. We asked for the vegetable tempura as a starter which ended up being fried oily zucchini. No variety of veggies, and as normal with zucchini, it had absorbed so much oil. Sushi was good, correct, but nothing special presentation wise. I guess we expected more quality for what we paid and for the food pictures on their website. I see this more as a drink and light dinner bar for young people, rather than a high quality restaurant. Premetto che la recensione si riferisce all'American Bar e più specificatamente ad un AperiSushi. Il riassunto perfetto sarebbe "Tanto fumo e niente Sushi". Voglio iniziare da ciò che mi è piaciuto: La location: molto bella, elegante, moderna, ricercata. Complimenti, siete riusciti a trasformare una terrazza in un bel luogo di ritrovo per gente ricercata. I Barman: chi prepara i Cocktail sono veramente bravi, oltre alle evoluzioni sono bravi, cortesi, eleganti e riescono a personalizzare e rendere i le loro creazioni delle opere d'arte. La cortesia: tutto il personale è molto cortese e professionale. Si vede che alle spalle c'è una struttura che ci tiene a selezionare bene il target. Passo ora alle note dolenti: Non c'era accoglienza: per chi non è un abituè all'inizio può sentirsi un po' spaesato e non sapere come muoversi. Gli spazi: Si è vero che è bello e ricercato, ma due coppie di amici che vogliono fare insieme un apertivo avrebbero difficoltà a sedersi vicini. I divanetti sono solo "riservati" e il resto dei tavolini bastano a stento per una coppia. Il grande assente: il Sushi! Ora tutti state già pensando "non penserai di essere ad un all you can eat". Ovviamente no. Ma diciamo che le portate arrivavano con una frequenza di circa 20 min, col locale moderatamente pieno, le pietanze scomparivano in circa 35 sec. Dei tre piatti che arrivano due erano di riso saltato e solo 1 di sushi. Quindi diciamo che si, sono riuscito ad assaggiare due, e dico 2 tocchi di sushi. Diciamo che in un locale così elegante e raffinato l'idea del Buffet forse è da ripensare, anche perchè anche per i catanesi più "fighettini" il buffet è un luogo dove piazzarsi e far valere la legge del più forte. Unfortunately, my experience at Amocù was extremely disappointing. Despite there being only three tables occupied when we arrived, we had to wait for two hours to be served. Additionally, the dishes arrived at different times and the quality of the fish was very poor. To top it off, the bill was unexpectedly high considering the service and quality we received.
