Fishiaria — Restaurant in Catania

We went to fishiaria for dinner as a group of 6 friends. Despite of the great reviews about this place I have never been this much disappointed by a restaurant’s team. Our food arrived one hour and half later than the time we ordered. Unfortunately we were unlucky because there was a mistake in getting the order. But the reason of our dissatisfaction wasn’t only the delay because mistakes can happen the important thing is how the staff would manage the situation. However, the staff were ignorant about the mistake they made by pretending the order is getting ready every time we asked about it. You don’t need to be Italian to know pasta doesn’t need 1 hour to get ready!!! It is expected a well known place as fishiaria to simply apologize in words for their mistake rather than disrespecting the customer’s time and pretending there is no inconvenience. In the end our orders didn’t arrive together and even one of us ended up eating alone after 2 hours. It is common knowledge that even if you have the best food in the world but you don’t have manners, your restaurant isn’t worth going. What professional restaurants would have done is to offer a side dish or limoncello on behalf of the restaurant to apologize for the inconvenience. That was definitely a waste of 165€ that we...

The service and food are horrible, I‘ve never seen such miserable service before. It was about 4:30 pm and there was 1 waiter who was running somewhere with empty bottles all the time and there was a woman who was helping him to clean the tables. The English of the waiter was quite well but the woman who brought the food (first one dish and in about 5-10 min another) was horrible and rude. There were only me with my husband and one more table at that time. The woman brought my dish, she just threw it on the table and when I have finished the half of it she threw the bread on the table in a basket. When I almost finished, the waiter brought my husband’s dish. It was a dry horrible burger even without lettuce nor tomatoes. We wanted to pay with a card, waiter brought a bill and disappeared for about 5 min when we wanted to pay and go and he knew it, I was looking for him and wanted to talk to someone else from the staff but they didn’t care at all!!!! Fishiaria is a nice local place with delicious various breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Especially recommending this place for breakfast if you do not want to comply with the majority of sugar-filled ‘local’ breakfasts. Tuna tartare sandwich was great, pastas are delicious and caponata is just so full of flavor. I honestly think the staff could do a better job in being welcoming - remember that your smile and good energy or its lack represents this place. I didn’t find the front of house lady in charge too friendly, she wouldn’t smile, constantly calling out ‘orders’ with no courtesy and had quite an unpleasant vibe with her coworkers.
