A True Taste of Sicily – with a Side of Giuseppe’s Charm! If you’re in Catania and don’t visit La Cialoma, are you even doing Sicily right? Nestled near the buzzing fish market, this place delivers on every front—food, wine, atmosphere, and above all, hospitality. The grilled calamari? Perfection—tender, smoky, and so fresh it probably waved at me before hitting the grill. The wine? Well-chosen and dangerously easy to drink. And then came the Tiramisù… oh, mamma mia! Hands down, the best in town—creamy, rich, and clearly homemade with love (and possibly Sicilian magic). But the real star of the evening? Giuseppe! This guy is the embodiment of Sicilian hospitality—friendly, knowledgeable, and generous. He didn’t just serve food; he gave great recommendations and even treated us to a real Sicilian liqueur. Let’s just say, it had a kick that could wake up Mount Etna :D So if you want great food with a side of Sicilian warmth (and possibly a surprise digestivo), La Cialoma is the place to be. Grazie, Giuseppe—I'll be back!

We were excited to try this spot, but sadly the experience was disappointing. On arrival, we had to literally catch someone from staff to help us with the tables. The grilled swordfish took 1.5 hours to arrive, and our salad order was misplaced and served to another table. In the meantime, we were eating the bread and olive oil that came before the food, which was pretty much the only good thing about the restaurant. It was nearly impossible to catch a waiter to ask about missing items, and when the fish finally came, it wasn’t fresh at all, stale and poorly cooked, one of the weakest swordfish dishes we’ve had in Sicily. For such a nice looking restaurant in a charming seaside town, the service and food were far below expectations.

La Cialoma offered us one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. The food was simply fantastic – every bite was perfectly balanced and prepared with true love for Sicilian tradition. The service was outstanding – friendly, attentive, and highly professional. A special thank you to Giuseppe, who took excellent care of us. He recommended amazing dishes and perfectly matched wines, making the whole evening absolutely perfect. The atmosphere, the view, and the overall setting only enhanced the experience – you truly feel at home here, just with much better food! We will definitely be returning very soon. La Cialoma is the kind of place you can’t wait to come back to again and again.
