My husband and i ended up here while we were killing time waiting for the night train to Rome. We saw “karaoke” on the sign and thought that seemed cool cause we love karaoke.

My husband is a vegan and was actually able to find quite a few things that he could eat and it tasted fine.

The service was practically non-existent, i think the server was scared of us because she didn’t want to deal with people who didn’t speak Italian. So we ordered from inside the building instead. As we weren’t in a hurry it wasn’t a big deal. It was cheap food though!

While we were eating we saw a guy setting up some sound equipment outside and got excited thinking that we might get to see some Italian karaoke, a first for us! And YES! Around 20:30 people started singing, it was great and super entertaining. There were lots of people outside and we felt petty lucky to have stumbled into this seemingly very authentic Catania Friday night hang out with locals.

After listening to lots of enthusiastic singers doing mostly Italian ballads which we didn’t recognize, but absolutely loved, we got to sing a song each and then ran off to catch our train.

Only for locals - tourists get ripped off big style. Hubby and I dropped in here for some late lunch, hubby had a plate of pasta (they were chucking it out) I had 4 small & thin slices of omelette, we had a small carafe of house wine. The old blonde lady was in charge of money and she charged us 20 euros, I asked how much the (single) pasta dish cost and she then pretended not to understand. I reckon a local would have been charge less than 8 euros. It is a shame as the other staff were lovely and helpful, but the old lady's greed left us feeling really ripped off.
