Thai Princess — Restaurant in Catania

It's not that it tastes bad. And if you are in Sicily and want to eat something more exotic than the local food, then it's certainly a place to go. But when you compare this restaurant to other Thai restaurants in Western Europe and expect authentic Thai food then it's not the place to be. It feels like a Thai restaurant further North around 20 or 30 years ago. That's maybe because this seems to be the only real Thai restaurant (bigger than some existing corner shops) in South Italy. Reading other comments we asked for a more authentic Thai taste, but they didn't understand. More authentic seems to be just more spicy there, but this doesn't define Thai kitchen. It's more about which spices you use. There were other errors like Pad Si Yu coming with the wrong type of noodles. It's like a Karl May novel, generating an Asian world... but only for those who have never been to Asia or only scratched the surface. We've been there...

I’m Thai and this restaurant was recomended to us by a Thai person living in Catania. When we got there it was completely full on Saturday night.

As expected, the food was delicious. Especially the Larb Moo with Jasmine rice, it was exactly the same way my mother makes it in Thailand. We also had the Phad See You and Tom Yum Goong Soup, and Fried Bananas for desert, all wonderful.

The biggest thing is when we were leaving the restaurant, we couldn’t get an Uber. The waiter and owner helped us call a taxi but there were no taxis available. It was midnight and we were getting ready to walk 30 minutes to our hotel. Then, the restaurant owner offered to give us a ride! It was incredibly generous.

Very good food and presentation. If you arrive well after opening a reservation is recommended. Parking is limited. The menu is very extensive with plenty of options. This is restaurant is a must go to if you if you love Thai. I have been to this establishment a few times, and it always seems like they only cater to reservations and not walk-ins. I went there on Saturday night and was told that there us no tables available when there were only 3 people in the entire restaurant. Most of the reservations were for 815 and here I am 845 and was told I could not sit. There was even a group that came in after we were about to leave and they canceled their reservation due to lack of seating. Mind you there was still only 3 people in the entire place. But besides...
