Bar Galatea — Restaurant in Catania

We had breakfast here this morning and the pastries were quite delicious however, the experience was ruined by two things: the service was unwelcoming and quite rude. The lady serving us behind the counter acted as a frustrated teenager would with doing a chore because we stumbled a bit with our italian and took a few seconds to understand what the pastry consisted of. We felt quite unwelcome as tourists and would not recommend anyone who doesn’t speak Italian fluently to visit. Second: after we have gone through a bit of an ordering ordeal and sat outside there was quite a foul urine odour that made it impossible to enjoy our coffee so we finished it as quickly as possible and left...

Sono assiduo frequentatore dei bar . Amo il rito della colazione . Sono un buongustaio e non amo mangiare ovunque. Conosco tutti i bar di Catania e per me il Bar Galatea é il primo per i seguenti motivi : colazione ( comprese le granite , gelati, caffé, etc. )tavola calda e ristorazione : ottima qualitá , freschezza , etc. ; servizio eccellente ( rapporto professionale, familiare, amicale ) ; rapporto qualitá / prezzo : ottimo ; In sintesi , chiunque vada al Bar Galatea sará trattato con professionalità e simpatia e ció a prescindere dall'essere clienti abituali o meno. MIGLIOR BOLOGNESE CON UOVO A CATANIA.

Frequento spesso il bar e tutti gli altri in zona, il pranzo è senza dubbio molto fornito e di alta qualità ma non eccelle rispetto all’altissima concorrenza del vicinato. Invece per quanto riguarda la tavola calda “sfogliata” (per intenderci cipolline, bolognesi ecc..) mi sento di dire che non ha eguali. Specialmente la bolognese è sicuramente la migliore in città. Mangiarla è un’esperienza culinaria che ogni catanese e turista DEVE necessariamente provare.

Unica pecca, banconisti perennemente con il broncio, strano vista la simpatia e disponibilità dei titolari...
