We came here for dinner on Friday night along with two other couples. Upon arrival we were told that the men needed to be wearing jackets. I wish that our hotel had told us because my husband had packed one, but luckily the restaurant keeps spare jackets on site for just this situation.
The large dining room is incredibly old school with beautiful brass dining chairs laden in blue and yellow striped fabric. When they brought out the wine list I thought it was a joke because it was the size of a dictionary! For dinner I had the beet tartare and the veal filet. The soy marinated tofu was a little bit of an odd flavor combined the beet dish but besides that it was quite good. My husband started with the gnocchi and it may have been the best dish of the night, it was dynamite. In my opinion, my veal filet was better than my husbands beef filet and I also really enjoyed the petite eggplant parmigiana that came with it.
Soufflé and ice creams for dessert were a big hit, but I was especially pleased because I asked if they had some dark chocolates off menu and they brought me out a beautiful assortment that tasted as good as they looked.
Great restaurant if you are looking for an elegant evening out on the town or an excuse to use the dinner jacket that you packed but thought you...
Read moreI want to set the mood for the evening for you. We took a water taxi to Villa d’este for our dinner reservation. It was so special to pull up to that gorgeous property by boat. My hair was a little bit of a mess but it was all worth it. We were a little earlier for our reservation on purpose. We wanted to have an aperitivo and take some pictures. When it was dinner time, they came to get us and took us to our table. The setting was dreamy. I understand why lake Como and its hotels are on many bucket lists like mine. There was a live band playing in the background (and they were great), the infinite wine list was brought to my husband, and I took a moment to let all in. My kids (teens of 13 and 16) and my husband and I loved everything we ordered. But it isn’t just the food that makes this restaurant so special. It’s the mood. The setting. The people watching. The service! It is truly so special! So would def recommend if you’re looking for an experience! Men- just a note- you must wear a sports coat. They won’t let you...
Read moreLocated in Villa d’Este on Lake Como, Ristorante Veranda provides a strong fine dining experience with elegant surroundings and lake views. The vibe is refined and comfortable—white linens, good lighting, and a terrace that feels suitable for a nice evening out. Service is reliable: Staff handle the tasting menu smoothly, offer helpful wine pairings from local options, and stay attentive without overdoing it. The food is well-executed, with balanced dishes like fresh seafood and handmade pastas. I particularly enjoyed the duck with foie gras, crunchy cabbage, and wild cherries—the rich duck and foie gras paired nicely with the tart cherries and crisp texture. Overall, a worthwhile spot for quality Italian dining. Reservations...
