Osteria Gustò — Restaurant in Chioggia

Asked for a table on Thursday at 9:15pm, they said the kitchen is closed. The place seemed great and so did the reviews. Went back the next day at 8pm, but there were no free tables inside, they said. I asked if it is worth coming back later, but we were told that they are booked for the rest of the evening. We decided to still eat here outside, despite of the cold weather. They said sure no problem.

In the next 15 minutes 2 couples were seated inside, both without reservation who arrived after us.

First, a nice old couple asked us if they have tables inside, we said apparently not. They went inside to ask and they were seated immediately. Later the lady came outside asking if we'd want to join them, but decided to stay outside as the table seemed small and didn't want to disturb them.

The second couple, who seemed to be locals, were seated outside next to us. However, later they were asked by the waiter if they are cold, because "they can come inside as they have a free table now." The conversation went down in Italian which my wife did understand but the waiter did not know that, as I talked with her in English.

Later I asked the waiter if the second couple had a reservation. She said no, but she tried to explain that because of the weather they were moved to a table inside. When I pointed out that we were here first, she simply said "sorry, I was wrong" and we left.

My husband did share a review that we did not get a table 2 nights in a row, so we had a 20 min dinner outside. while 2 couples who came after us were seated inside without any reservation.

I did not want to give any further reviews therefore to stay fair.

Then they topped the frustration with an extremly rude comment accordingly it is all okay because we ordered only 2 alcoholic drinks and 1 pasta and I should not be involved in their business decisions. That means the “poor stays outside” or what ? :D

Btw 25 euros for 25 minutes visit is not a bad deal.

The first couple was seated before we ordered. Timeline does not add up.. We did not want to stay long as it was cold outside. I dont prefer to eat in a jacket, sorry(?)

When I choose a fish restaurant for a lunch or a dinner, I expect to get a fresh taste of fish and seafood. But not the taste of fried onions with raisins, tomatoes and others. Probably here they are tired of the natural taste of fish and seafood, so they try to decorate it, in my opinion, a completely unbalanced taste. The menu takes one sheet, but this is not a guarantee of the availability of all dishes. Although the fish market is around the corners and today is Saturday. This restaurant's patrons mainly order deep-fried misto and aperitif. Disappointment. The restaurant rating is overstated. Rather an ordinary trattoria of...
