Been there on Easter Monday. Party of 9 people. Before seating you will have to choose the meat cuts at the trattoria Butcher Bar. So far it’s ok it is part of the experience. The the butcher bar man will not follow your directions about counting the pieces of meat for a large group and he will randomly put the meat on the scale and measure. Some clients would appreciate that others not. After seated (table near toilet) the waitress Rebecca was extremely professional and very polite managing a large group of clients. She suggested portions of starters and taking the drinks order. Starters arrived. Three trays of cured meats (Parma, salami, coppa) and three trays of cheeses (2 types). The wine was a bit late. Arrived half way after the starters arrived. I suggest you choose the local wines by carafe. They are good. The meats we choose arrived for our main course. This is the land of a particular grilled meat called “bombette”. They were nice to taste but not too juicy. Hopefully next time will do better about this. Rebecca asked us for desserts. No dessert needed. After paying the bill we were offered for a local digestive (limoncello, grappa and laurel liquor). The atmosphere was ok. The table was near the toilet. Per la qualità del cibo, meriterebbe ben oltre le 5 stelle; valuto 3 stelle solo per il comportamento di quello che credo sia il titolare (o uno dei titolari). Abbiamo cenato in due il 20 Agosto. Il locale era particolarmente affollato, visto il periodo e l'impossibilità di prenotare. Ci hanno fatto accomodare rapidamente, avendo scelto di cenare all'interno anziché all'esterno; per nostra fortuna, il tavolo era letteralmente di fronte uno dei condizionatori, quindi non abbiamo affatto accusato il calore della brace interna al locale. Dopo l'assegnazione del tavolo, come da indicazioni sul menù, siamo andati al banco carni (che si trova in direzione diametralmente opposta a dove ci siamo seduti, praticamente ad inizio del vicolo) per scegliere i tagli di carne da consumare. Mentre eravamo in fila, una cliente davanti a noi ha chiesto di pagare la carne con la carta; la risposta del titolare (o chi per lui) è stata pietrificante: "EH SIGNORA, COSÌ MANGIATE A MEZZANOTTE! SAREBBE MEGLIO PAGARE IN CONTANTE, CHE MI RALLENTATE TUTTO IL SERVIZIO VOI E QUESTE CARTE". La cliente resta visibilmente turbata ed urtata dalla risposta, completamente inattesa, facendo presente di non avere l'importo in contanti, ma solo con carta. A quel punto, il signore lascia cadere sul bancone coltelli da macellaio ed acciaio, visibilmente scocciato ed infastidito e borbottando procede a prendere il POS vicino all'ingresso della macelleria. Tempo di attesa totale per il pagamento? 30 secondi, forse anche meno. Il tutto con regolare scontrino fiscale, così come a noi che, vista la situazione, abbiamo scelto di pagare in contanti (non senza qualche problema, eravamo completamente impreparati avendo pagato sempre con carta nei ristoranti dove siamo stati durante il soggiorno in Puglia). Non comprendiamo ancora né il motivo dello sbotto improvviso (visto che lo scontrino fiscale viene emesso in ogni caso) né tantomeno questo "rallentare la fila al banco"... Fatta salva questa piccola parentesi, la qualità della carne era spettacolare, così come la cottura. Il personale dentro la sala è gentile e disponibile. Ironico il fatto che per il pagamento della parte del ristorante (il conto è separato da quello della macelleria), non ci sia stato fatto alcun problema per il pagamento con carta. Menzione speciale va anche al vino della casa. Consigliatissimo per il rapporto qualità/prezzo; consiglio di munirsi di contante, almeno per il pagamento della macelleria...o di buona pazienza, perché a quanto pare queste sparate sono abbastanza frequenti e pare che davvero indichi al personale di sala di servire il tavolo che ha pagato con carta con ritardo rispetto chi...

Arrosteria del Vicoletto is hands down one of the best places to eat in Cisternino! The concept is fantastic — you choose your meat directly from the butcher, and the restaurant grills it perfectly for you. The portions are generous, the prices are great, and the quality is outstanding.

The staff are friendly, welcoming, and full of local charm, making the whole experience even better. It’s a hidden little gem just off the piazza, with a warm and authentic atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.

We’ve eaten in many places around Cisternino, but this was by far the best meat meal — amazing food, great value, and wonderful service. Highly recommend to anyone...
