Rosticceria "Fornello" Antico Borgo, Cisternino: A Must-Visit for Meat Lovers. If you're looking for an authentic apulian dining experience, look no further than Fornello Antico Borgo in Cisternino. This rustic restaurant serves up some of the best grilled meats in the region, including bombette (stuffed pork rolls), torcinelli (lamb intestines), and braciole in pignata (meat rolls cooked in a clay pot). We started our meal with a selection of antipasti, which included grilled vegetables, and cured meats. Everything was delicious, but the bombette were the real stars of the show. These savory rolls are stuffed with a variety of fillings, such as cheese, bread crumbs, and herbs. They are then grilled to perfection and served with a side of lemon (if you lke). We tried the torcinelli and the braciole in pignata. The torcinelli were cooked to perfection, with a slightly crispy exterior and a tender, flavorful interior. The braciole in pignata were slow-cooked in a rich tomato sauce, which infused the meat with incredible flavor. We ended our meal with an amazing Limoncello. Everything was delicious, and the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. Overall, Fornello Antico Borgo is a must-visit for any meat lover visiting Cisternino. The food is delicious, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic apulian dining experience. Here are some other things to note about Fornello Antico Borgo: The restaurant is located in the historic center of Cisternino, so it's easy to walk to from many of the town's hotels and shops. The restaurant is open for dinner only, and it's always busy, so reservations are recommended. The restaurant has a small but well-chosen wine list, with a focus on local apulian wines. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. If you're looking for a delicious and authentic apulian dining experience, Fornello Antico Borgo is the perfect place for you. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone...
Read moreWe just returned from a much anticipated visit to this fantastic restaurant, and was it ever a home run! We had skilled and charming servers who did a great job meeting our language barriers and patiently explained the menu. The main dining room was full of local families and we got a great table in the gorgeous second dining area with a few other families. We enjoyed the mixed veggie platter, donkey salumi (it's incredible) a one-pound donkey costata steak (bone in, boneless also available) and a boneless veal steak (pick your size, chop-style also available). We chose med-rare and medium respectively. This is top quality meat and cooked absolutely perfectly. Super tender, great char, not overdone. Veggies (marinated red onion, artichoke, and eggplant) were unique and fantastic. The charming and helpful staff were all smiles and efficiency. We came to Italy to enjoy local culture and interesting, premium food, and they nailed it in spades. We may adjust our Italy adventure just to come here again and try the rest of their offerings. If you're a carnivore from anywhere in the world, this is as good as it gets. Bravo and lifelong appreciation to the owners and staff for an unforgettable experience. See...
