Osteria Sant'Anna — Restaurant in Cisternino

Visited this restaurant at 8:30 on a Saturday evening and it was already very busy, so I would advise booking a table.

The restaurant is situated beside the train station on the Cisternino side a few hundred meters outside the town centre, there is ample parking.

The outside of the building is old fashioned and the sign is a bit difficult to spot especially at night. Inside it is traditional Italian decor, warm and inviting with linen tablecloths and napkins.

On perusing the menu the deserts sounded delicious so we both had main courses (seconda) followed by desert. I had bacala a fish very similar to cod which was cooked with a sauce, it was nicely presented and very good. My wife had lamb cutlets which were cooked pink to perfection. We had grilled vegetables to accompany the mains.

The star of the show was my desert, a thin white chocolate egg filled with panna cotta on a bed of mango gelato with dried coconut. Superb.

There is a good wine list all reasonably priced.

Service was prompt, professional and friendly.

I’ve tried many restaurants in Cisternino and this is certainly one of the best....

[DE] Ein sehr professioneller Begrüssung an einem sehr gemütlichen Ort. Typische und lokale Küche, aber gleichzeitig sehr fein. Präsentation von erhabenen und aufwendigen Gerichten. Das Plus dieses Ortes: verschiedene vegetarische Optionen und Preise mehr als richtig.

Good food and friendly staff , The only downside is a man wandering around the grounds and entrance asking for money when you leave, even though parking is free in the surrounding area (the car was there much earlier than the man arrived). I normally give money, but we found the man very pushy and annoying when we gave a cat some food ( at the parking place), which startled the cat and made it disappear. I'm not used to this, in the beautiful valley. Please don't let this become the norm in the valley; tourists don't want these illegal practices. Otherwise, the restaurant was good! After refusing to pay, the man gave the car an intimidating look. Luckily, I'm not afraid of gnomes ;-) . See you again next year whitout the man please. This time 4 stars because the man Otherwise...
