Our waiter was fantastic, but the meal was unsalvageable. We ordered two different pastas which were inedible due to heavy over salting. Initially we were told “this is how Italians make pasta in Italy” and they couldn’t make the pasta any less salty. I guess the hundreds of Italian restaurants we’ve eaten at, including Michelin and in Umbria, aren’t made by Italians then! Later as an apology, they served a fresh pasta, which did taste incredible and almost saved the meal. We then ordered the fillet steak and deer stew. Steak good, no problem. The deer stew: horribly over salted. At this point it seemed like it was deliberate, so we decided to leave quickly and skip dessert and coffee. They did try to make it better by reducing the bill but the terrible stew and lack of attention from the owners makes me question if they actually cared and instead just wanted rid of us.

In the absolute beautiful little dirty of Citta della Pieve in UMBRIA, you can find this restaurant and I recommend you to make a reservation. Not for lunch time during normal week days but definitely in the evening and on weekends. I recommend to order Tagliata with a bit of rosemary accompanied by some vegetables. The wine selection ist great. Montalcino Brunello, Vino Nobile from Montepuciano or just some really good Umbrian wines like Rossobastardo or one of the rich selection of Montefalco wines. The fotos I added is showing Bistecca, Fiorentina and Tagliata. They are grilled over open fire in back of the restaurant. Enjoy!

It was a lovely experience. The service and especially the decoration is just amazing. The service has ok, you would expect better service and at least one employee that would speak English to explain the Italian menu. We tried the pasta for staters and got full. One dish was enough. They served big portions. And for main dish we tried the local steak, and the lamb ribs. The ribs were simply amazing, the stake on the other hand, we order medium, and it came rare, we asked to grilled a little more, and it came back overcooked. Overall a 4 star experience.

Nel visitare con la mia famiglia in un fine settimana di aprile il caratteristico paese di Città della Pieve, consapevoli di ricalcare con accuratezza l’aspetto storico culturale che lo contraddistingue in quanto ubicato tra le terre dell’Umbria e della Toscana, come antichi viandanti ci siamo ristorati presso un tipico locale del luogo, la Trattoria Bruno Coppetta, inserita in un palazzo storico perfettamente integrato nel contesto urbano, dove più sale ristoranti, ubicate su diversi piani, risultano accoglienti e curate nell’ambientazione. Un ristorante ben “assortito” di personale rivelatosi preparato, cortese e formale quanto basta da far trasparire la indubbia professionalità. Ma veniamo al dunque. La tradizione culinaria. Beh che dire, niente da eccepire, Ampia scelta di vini, antipasto tipico con ogni sorta di salumi, formaggi, fegatini, tartufo,.. in porzioni generose, primi piatti come i tagliolini al tartufo e i pici cacio e pepe, che già nella coreografica presentazione con cui sono stati impiattati, spadellamento davanti ai commensali e pioggia finale di scaglie di tartufo per il primo; rovistata in una forma cava di pecorino, tanto per consolidare il già ricco condimento, per il secondo, lasciano presagire la leccornia che ci si prestava ad assaporare. Mi piacerebbe spendermi per descrivere i secondi piatti tra tagliate e filetti vari, ma i viandanti erano saturi (ma soddisfatti). Un commento che normalmente tendo a non considerare purchè si esca appagati per la qualità riscontrata: l’ottimo prezzo. Totale € 70 per tre persone con uno sconto di ben € 4. Dalle mie parti non esiste.

Beautiful, romantic atmosphere, wonderful selection of wine, and brilliant customer service. The cacio e pepe here is perfectly cheesy, made with absolutely delicious pasta, and topped with a sprinkle of fresh cracked pepper… this is a meal we still dream about while traveling all through Europe. Hands down the best pasta we’ve had in six weeks of travel. Our waitress was very sweet and did a great job speaking English with us. Thanks for a delicious meal on our honeymoon. :)

Piacevole esperienza presso questo bel locale al centro di Città della Pieve al pranzo del 29 novembre. Ambiente ordinato e curato. Non troppo affollato. In fondo un bel camino con brace in..produzione. Personale e titolare molto gentili e affabili. Abbiamo apprezzato un interessante antipasto si prosciutto locale, tagliato finemente a mano, con pezzettini Pecorino e due salsiccette. Crostini umbri di fegatini e capperi, gustosissimi. A completare rapi ripassati e fagioli all'uccelletto, il tutto accompagnato da fette di bico caldissime e croccanti. A seguire un piatto di pici al tartufo, tagliato davanti a noi, non salsa tartufata... Piatto di gnocchi ai porcini buonissimo. Ci siamo poi divisi un filetto di chianina cottura media, accompagnato da patate arrosto, ben preparato dal giovane e promettente Giorgio alla "braceria". Tenero come mai da tempo mi capitava.. Non ho potuto assaggiare vino causa ...guida immediata successiva, a scanso problemi. Servizi igienici curati e ordinati. Avendo riguardo a quanto esposto, ed anche ad altre pietanze viste nei tavoli limitrofi, come il cacio e pepe fumante mantecato su forma di Pecorino ( giudicato super dai commensali..), non possiamo esimerci dal dare l'eccellenza a questa storica trattoria sperando di potervi ritornare presto. Ed invitando chiunque a provare per credere. Prezzi in linea con il livello espresso.
