Trattoria Bruno Coppetta — Restaurant in Città della Pieve

The food was good and the waiter was very nice and helpful, the stars are only for him!

I made a reservation for 9pm three weeks ago. The day of the reservation I called to confirm, we arrived on time and everything was going amazingly until we finished eating.

We ordered one first course each, a bottle of wine and an 80 euros steak. The interaction with the waiter was super nice and he guided us through our meal which was very much appreciated.

Unfortunately, at the very end of our meal, the person who seemed to be the manager/owner became extremely rude towards me and my husband. It was around 23.15 when I quickly went to the toilet before leaving because we had a 1 hour drive back to Perugia and this person stood up in front of my husband (who doesn't speak any Italian) staring at him and saying "andiamo???" making the whole thing really uncomfortable for him. We totally understand that it was a long week and you wanted to leave but there was no need to be so rude, you could have gone to him and politely explain that you were closing (we were leaving anyway!!!) without putting up a scene about which even the waiter apologised.

There are multiple people we know from the area and abroad who wanted to come try your food but now I won't recommend your restaurant anymore. We were paying clients and were very polite with everybody. Sometimes just a sentence can completely change an experience and this behaviour really ruined our meal at this restaurant.

Definitely would NOT recommend if they treat clients like this. Remember you're not doing us a favor since we are paying for the...

We just had our worst experience dining in Umbria. We were served by a very unfriendly and rude waitress, who asked us if we had a reservation, even though most tables were empty. She was obviously about to refuse us, when a more experienced and better mannered member of the staff (manager?) intervened and offered us a table immediately. In an obvious snit, the waitress then fawned over other Italian guests seated next to us, and ignored us for long periods, even "forgetting" part of our order. Simply humiliating. We were charged 4 Euros for bread and olive oil, yet not even a plate was supplied to eat this with. Moreover, the bread was not fresh. The food was at best tasteless and I have eaten in "canteens" that present their food better. The coffee was tepid and bitter - easily the worst espresso that we have tasted on our holiday in Umbria. I advise anyone to simply avoid this establishment. Perhaps, if you are Italian, or "appear" as if you are going to spend a lot of money, you may get better service. Then again, if you want to spend a lot of money, why eat here? There are so many better places to eat in the lovely town of Cittá...

Our waiter was fantastic, but the meal was unsalvageable. We ordered two different pastas which were inedible due to heavy over salting. Initially we were told “this is how Italians make pasta in Italy” and they couldn’t make the pasta any less salty. I guess the hundreds of Italian restaurants we’ve eaten at, including Michelin and in Umbria, aren’t made by Italians then! Later as an apology, they served a fresh pasta, which did taste incredible and almost saved the meal. We then ordered the fillet steak and deer stew. Steak good, no problem. The deer stew: horribly over salted. At this point it seemed like it was deliberate, so we decided to leave quickly and skip dessert and coffee. They did try to make it better by reducing the bill but the terrible stew and lack of attention from the owners makes me question if they actually cared and instead just...
