Ammukka — Restaurant in Favignana

AVOID!! - ENDED IN EMERGENCY ROOM due to Histamine Toxicity from the Red Tuna!!

My partner and I thought we would 'treat' ourselves to a meal at Ammukka. Firstly, it is not cheap. We paid €97 for 2 people.

Our food arrived too quickly so it couldn't possibly have been fresh. We shared a tuna steak and both immediately reacted to it. Tingling lips, swollen tongue, rash on arms etc.

We both had to go to the emergency room for anti-histamine and cortisone injections. The doctor advised us that histamine levels in tuna are high when it is poorly stored or poorly prepared.

We returned the next day with a doctors certificate and unfortunately we received the worst service from the chef who confused us with 2 other customers who got sick the same night. He also refused to give us a refund or apologise. He made us feel petty for even asking for a refund which would have been basic customer service from their side.

Please don't support this establishment, they truly do not care about their customers

Incuriositi ieri sera siamo approdati al Ristorante Ammukka di Favignana....la nostra destinazione era altro locale ma come detto all' inizio incuriositi e attratti dal menù e dai piatti che uscivano dalla cucina verso la propria destinazione nei tavoli abbiamo deciso di cenare e provare i piatti che lo chef proponeva...certo per noi non conoscendo il locale sarebbe stata un' incognita........ma devo dire che non potevamo fare scelta migliore.....personale garbato, gentile e premuroso verso i clienti....il responsabile di sala molto simpatico....Chef preparatissimo a trasformare le materie prime in eccellenti pietanze.......abbiamo optato per un tagliere Tonnara, un mix di affumicati di tonno e pesce Spada serviti con della burrata e crema di cipolle per smorzare quella sapidità che gli affumicati di pesce hanno.....devo dire molto molto buoni.....la mia Signora ha voluto provare il Tonno in agrodolce con cipolle di Tropea....Divino....freschezza del Tonno superlativa...carni compatte e morbide per non parlare della cottura Magistrale...... Io amante dei primi sono stato attratto dallo spaghetto alla mousse di ricci ( piatto rivisitato dallo chef ) con una cremina dal profumo e sapore intenso di mare.... e su mia richiesta ho desiderato far aggiungere della tartare di gambero rosso di Mazzara ( a crudo ).....e ovviamente sono stato accontentato......freschezza dei ricci e del gambero insuperabile....ottima la cottura della pasta.......e il sapore che mi ha lasciato al palato ancora lo ricordo.....e fidatevi di pasta ai ricci ne ho mangiata essendo Siciliano.....ma questo piatto rivisitato e' a dir poco eccellente....pensate alla fine quella mousse di ricci ha meritato la scarpetta.......il tutto innaffiato con un bianco Siciliano un "Diamanti" uve Grillo delle Cantine Principi di Butera. Prezzi medio/alti ma competitivi con altri ristoranti dell' Isola considerata anche l' alta stagione...... Conclusione : Consigliatissimo per una serata più...

Though the staff was fairly friendly, the starters had been cooked a while back and were served partially cold and partially pre-heated in the microwave. The fish dishes (tuna and swordfish) were overcooked making the consistency of the food cardboard like. We were also the only table that didn't get any bread refills and were unable to order straight away as they have a "rota" they stick to in order to get orders from the different tables.
