Starter: Complimentary bruschetta was average. I'd rather pay a lower coperto and pay for a separate starter of choice.
Main dish: we had a portion of seafood couscous and pasta with Mama's sauce. The fish couscous was cold in some parts, while the pasta was boiling hot. Just poorly prepped dishes.
Coperto: EUR 4 per person. I guess the higher charge is to make up for a "complimentary" bruschetta ;) Most of the places charge EUR 2. A served portion of bread for the table did not taste fresh.
Drinks: For a higher coperto rate and EUR 5 per drink (!!!) we would expect soft drinks to be served in glass bottles. Unfortunately, we received standard cans of San Pellegrino lemonade, which we found very disappointing.
Toilets: In the main bathroom, the hand soap dispenser was empty.
Staff and atmosphere: The highlight of this place was the waiting staff; despite working there just for a season, we found them very welcoming. polite and professional.
Bill: We did not appreciate "an offer" of getting 5% discount on the bill if we leave a Google review. The ask left us feeling uncomfortable. When the restaurant asks you to leave a review, as a customer, you feel obliged to leave a 5-star one, naturally.
Bottom line: Rather than asking your customers for a review, focus on the quality of your food and improve the atmosphere of the place, and pay more attention to details. There are plenty of fantastic restaurants in Favignana, and this one was unfortunately a...
Read moreYou find the best places when you wander down the side streets, away from the tourist hubs. Sarah’s smile and genuine kindness will draw you in. Mamma Rina’s establishment is warm and inviting, like the Italian home you wished you had. The food is lovingly prepared, as the taste will tell you. We enjoyed our meal so much, we returned the following evening so we could further explore the menu. We were again delighted. The octopus salad was bursting with flavor, texture and color, even my fair-weather seafood-consuming husband loved it! Between the two evenings, we sampled and thoroughly enjoyed the tuna steak, spaghetti with clams, Mamma Rina’s meaty pasta dish and hubby even ordered one of their perfectly aged and grilled steaks. Save room for the best pistachio Tiramisu you’ll ever find. La Pinnata da Mamma Rina is the real deal. We will return again someday, for the warmth of their welcome and the love from...
Read moreThis restaurant is not to be overlooked. It’s on a quit street and you could easily pass it by. The ambiance is so comfortable and you feel as if you’re in nana’s kitchen. When it come to the food I can’t even describe how good it is. I had pasta with mussels while my husband had a swordfish, prawns rolled into a croquet with eggplant on the outside. We chose grilled veggies to go with our meal. Even though the desserts sounded oh so good we were full and went with a digestive. I had Finochietto for the first time and am now trying to find a place to buy a bottle. Husband went with his favorite- grappa. No matter what dish you choose you will not be disappointed. Wish we were staying longer because we would...
