Ristorante De La Ville — Restaurant in Fiumicino

My husband and I went here last night because we were staying at a nearby airport hotel. My husband ordered a coffe and I said we wanted to share the margarita pizza. The waitress responded in a flat and annoyed tone that we could not share it. I should have asked why, or better yet taken that as a sign to get up and leave. But instead my husband said he wanted a mixed salad. She grabbed the menus back, abruptly urned around, and I could see the look of irritation on her face. Completely unacceptable behavior. Yet after that, every time she came to the table she managed a fake smile. As for the pizza, it was the worst one I’d had in Italy. The dough tasted sour like it had rose for way too long, it was greasy, there was a single piece of blackened basil in the middle, and the cheese also tasted sour. I could’ve overlooked the bad pizza if the waitress hasn’t been so rude. I have some basic Italian language skills and was using them initially- as I’ve found most Italians appreciate the effort. The food is good, but watch your prices because some dishes are a la carte. The wine we a bit more expensive. My husband ordered a fish and it was white, but small, served deboned, with a separate side order. I had linguini a la Bolognese which was to meaty compared to others I've haha in Italy. Bread was served warm which is rare in Italy. But then you are in Rome. I think they're associated with the hotel next door. Staff speaks English and Spanish. The atmosphere is Anywhere, USA.... I was extremely pleased on my first visit here, and I came back specifically for more seafood. On this second visit, I hit the jackpot: I had absolutely the best piece of fish I’ve tasted in over 20 years (“all’acqua pazza”), preceded by seafood antipasto and seafood pasta!
