Ristorante Oltremare — Restaurant in Fiumicino

My wife and I worked in the service industry for 15 years each. We are very forgiving and try to be extremely kind to any service staff we encounter but if I could give 0 stars I would. We stayed in an Airbnb next door on the last night of our honeymoon before a 6am flight. This place had excellent reviews so I thought it would be a nice last meal before we head home. Other reviews have mentioned that you do not want to come here if you’re American and I really wish I had seen them. We were literally ignored for over an hour after receiving our appetizer even when the restaurant was essentially empty. We made multiple attempts to get the attention of ANYONE. 45 minutes after finishing our appetizer and not being said a word to, we decided to go and find someone and ask for the check. 20 minutes after that and still nothing. Our original waiter tried to charge us when we finally got up to just leave for the entrees that we never received and then decided to have a tantrum banging the credit card reader for his own mistake. This was the worst dining experience of my life. Maybe because we are American. We waited 35 minutes and had to ask to order. After asking we still had to wait. We had to ask for more wine. We had to ask for oil and vinegar to dress dry salads. The tempura shrimp was soggy batter on shrimp heads. I got linguine and clams the linguine was so al dente it was sticking to my teeth and half the clams didn’t open. Americans beware. Not friendly and not good. I arrived late and had a salad and bread. My experience here was very relaxing. The salad was delicious! I was treat with kindness and respect. Walking distance from my hotel and open later than most restaurants in the area. This is an upscale establishment and the atmosphere is clean and inviting. Superior selection of beverages and seafood. My bill was less than ten euro for salad, bread and a bottle of water. I gave the entire ten.
