This place was recommended to me by my Airbnb host, who said it was among the best pizza in Florence. A bit of that might be neighborhood pride since he lived down the block, but after eating there, I can't fault him!
This spot is far enough off from the city's sightseeing that you won't see many (or any) tourists, but still near enough to the train station that it's not hard to get to. Both the pizza and the carbonara are great, and the wine's cheap. The service was good, considering how packed the restaurant was both times I've come here, and really cheerful even when it was apparent that all I had was a speck of phrasebook Italian, Google Translate, and clever charades.
Oh, and you'll notice that the pizza menu has an item simply called "Segreta (??????????)". Now, if you're the type to order a mystery food, sight unseen, possibly on the other side of the world in a language you don't speak (like I obviously am), nothing I can say will dissuade you. But let me just say that while you do get a whole lot of food -- it's probably the best pound-for-pound value -- you obviously don't get any say in the flavors that are coming together in the dish. So unless you're very hungry, you might do well to stick to known...
Read moreThis restaurant is absolutely amazing! It has such an authentic Italian atmosphere, and the pizza and pasta are on another level. Before coming to Italy, I actually disliked pizza and pasta, but now I realize that what I had before wasn’t real Italian food. The pasta and pizza here are incredible, packed with flavor!
We ordered the clams spaghetti, black truffle pasta, and a pepperoni pizza. Everything was so delicious! I take back what I said about not liking pasta and pizza. The flavors were so rich and satisfying.
The service was excellent—professional and efficient without unnecessary small talk. We also ordered a 1/4 liter of house wine, and when there was a mix-up with the bottle, they quickly resolved it.
When it came time to pay, the bill was just over €36. As I was looking for some coins, the staff simply told me, “Don’t worry about it.” Honestly, this level of hospitality is something I’ve never experienced in the Western world—it felt so down-to-earth and genuine.
I highly recommend...
Read more3 of us had dinner here one time while we were staying at a nearby AirBnB. Food was good. Customers seem to be mostly locals not tourists. Our waitress didn't speak English, but we managed to point at the menu and order. Our meals were delivered quickly. I got their boneless T-bone steak, Bistecca Florentina, which you order per 100 grams (3.5 oz) with a minimum of 500 grams (17 oz). I wish they had a smaller steak on the menu. We also got GNOCCHI ALLA BURRATA, gnocchi with burrata cheese and tomato sauce, and SCALOPPINA DI VITELLA AI PORCINI, veal scaloppine with porcini mushrooms, and a side of spinach. The average price with tax and tip was barely over 20 Euros/person. They are dog friendly (as you can see...
