Pizzeria Rustica — Restaurant in Gaeta

Only go here if you are ready to fight for your right to pizza and your Italian language skills are strong. We heard the buzz about this restaurant and decided to stop by on a Sunday night. The place was hopping. They had a number system where you take a number and are supposed to order when your number is called/listed on the display. The number system was a total joke! The server paid absolutely no attention to the numbers and basically took orders from whoever was shouting the loudest and being the most aggressive. Admittingly, my Italian language skills are mediocre at best but I was trying my hardest to use it and get the servers attention. +JMJ. Loved the varieties of pizza! First time ever eating a superb pizza made of potato slices and weiners. I have yet to find anything like their selection here in the States! This little place was always packed, but the staff efficiently handled every customer's order: taking the order, cutting the pizza (square pieces), weighing the pizza, then taking payment. Also, loved walking around looking like a local (though I was military in civvies) eating my paper wrapped pizza hurrying off to some interesting Italian site in Old Town Gaeta!! Those were the days. Great tasting pizza! It is really tasty, with great ingredients and the dough is crispy and superbly baked! If you're in Gaeta definitely try. BUT.. There's always a but. Getting the pizza is chaos. ABSOLUTE CHAOS!! Everybody is pushing, pizza guys are frantically working and getting orders, you're getting pushed and elbowed and you better be prepared to dish out some violence. So if you're a small woman wait outside and send your boyfriend into the fire 😁 Oh and they speak only a few words english so be prepared to speak italian.
