Le Desir Piquant Cafe Ristorante — Restaurant in Giardini-Naxos

The restaurant by the sea has a diverse menu with options such as pasta, salads, and Asian dishes like Thai cuisine. It is important to note that the restaurant closes for siesta at 3 p.m.

During our visit, we were a large group, making it difficult to keep track of our orders. Unfortunately, this led to us receiving an additional pasta and salad that we did not order. Despite our attempts to explain this to the waiter, they insisted that we had indeed ordered these dishes. Being unfamiliar with the restaurant's offerings, we agreed to accept the dishes, as the waiter seemed pretty sure. At that point, we were still waiting for ravioli, we thought that ravioli was looking like pasta..so accepted pasta. After we ate pasta, we received ravioli as well.

When it came time to pay, we were charged an extra 27 euros for the food we did not order. This was a rather unusual situation for us, as we had never encountered anything like it before. We later discovered that the extra food had actually come from a neighboring table's order. Waiters confused tables and then just included the items into our bill later.

The restaurant acknowledged the mistake but insisted that we ate food and had to pay…

As a result we overate and overpaid, which...

Avoid this business at all costs. Worst meal we have EVER had in Italy. The bread was dry as a bone as though it had been sliced hours beforehand. We ordered a beer each to have before our meal and some wine with our meals. The beers didn't arrive. Waited for ages. Had to ask for them finally. They arrived just before our meals. We asked for the wine to be served to accompany the meals. My wife's meal came first. Mine arrived many minutes later, so my wife's meal was now cold. My calamari was tough and rubbery. The meals are served with half a tiny potato! Very average. Their "salad" consists of shredded lettuce leaves with olive oil. We got three quarters of the way through our meal, so had to ask for our wine. Finally arrived! So had to gulp down our wine with our meal!  When we asked for our bill we had to wait for ages to even get our bill. The staff were too busy chatting all evening. After receiving the bill we waited and waited. Had to finally go up to the register and pay there.  The final insult was that the bill had a 4 Euro "service" charge! What a joke. We were totally ignored all evening. What was supposed to be an enjoyable evening was terrible. Service in this place is non-existent....

Very bad experience. Despite many free tables the waiter insisted we take the one closest to the road. Service took forever. The waiter did not verify our order and got it wrong 3or 4 times. He seemed totally uninterested in our dining experience. The bill was inflated with extra 7€ for bread we didn’t touch. When the bill finally came we were so exhausted wejust wanted to leave and ended up paying the extra. To top it off they charged us 2€ cover charge to sit in traffic. The one star they get is because the food when it finally arrived...
