SottoSopra Drink — Restaurant in Giardini-Naxos

Not for us. Ate in back of the bar. Very dark and hot - despite the huge a/c unit, probably due to the low ceiling and dark decor. Given menu and not impressed. Asked if they had any specials…this is where the waiter begins to recite a litany of their specials. Wow it was never ending so much that actually forgot what he was saying - never known anything like it anywhere - probably more Specials than dishes on the menu…and no mention of any prices for the multitude of dishes he shared. To be honest we tuned out as this practice is just ridiculous. We asked the waiter, who was very nice, why they did not simply list the specials on a board or paper and he laughed saying he was the board - he then pointed to an empty blackboard behind saying they chose not to use it - why?? We chose a pasta dish and the chicken potato dish from the menu and asked if there was a wine list - the drinks on the back of the menu were limited at best - several very expensive bottles of fizz ( which did not match the decor in any way) and not much else - no beers no wine no cocktails etc. We were then told by the waiter that he was the wine list…we asked him for a bottle of House white wine and surprise surprise they did not serve House Wine - during our trip we have been in more upmarket restaurants than this and they all offered House wine which was very good so strange that this Burger Bar didn’t..anyway the waiter said they had good, basic local wine - he then brought 2 bottles from the fridge to show us. And being stung like this before we asked how much they were - both €25 - for basic local wine in Italy…in a mediocre bar! I said that is expensive - in an actual restaurant on the seafront the previous night we’d paid €15. He then said we have another bottle at €22 - which he proceeded to show us. By this time I was so fed up with the blatant underhand way they were trying to exploit the tourists I simply said that one will do. When the food arrived the pasta was nice enough, but nothing great. Small pieces of chopped prawn in pesto. Not worth €18 - much better in other restaurants nearby for less. My chicken potato was breaded chicken topped with a few fries in a brioche bun - it was extremely dry and tasteless. I would not recommend this place and suggest that they list their specials - this area and the Amalfi coast is known for ripping off tourists by not putting prices on their menus - many people order without asking as they are too embarrassed then are shocked when their bill arrives. Also, have a wine and drinks price list, surely that’s not too much to ask after all...

עברית בפנים כנסו לביקורת!!! This is by far the BEST PLACE we've been in Gardinia Naxos if not all of Sicily!!! The staff speak great english! The service is AMAZING (a guy with a black ponytail, beard and tattoos you are THE BEST), The owner is an awesome guy!!! We were a couple and we asked him where we could hang out/go to a party that night, and he gave us a full list with places and he was such a nice guy! (he's younger than you'd think).

We just wanted an HAMBURGER and you can't imagine how hard it is to find some good burger in Sicily. Oh my god. Until we found this place! Check out the images I uploaded in this review, the food was AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING with great prices!!! (I also took a photo for the menu so you can see). Just.. wow. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE BEST EXPERIENCE. תשמעו. רוצים המבורגר? יופי.לכו למקום הזה!!! השירות פשוט מדהים, חבר'ה צעירים שיודעים אנגלית כמו שצריך! סוף סוף... סיציליה.. אוכל פגז ובמחירים זולים! באמת המקום הזה פשוט יהלום!!! אסור לפספס!!!

One of those restaurant who delivers much less than its positioning would request. Price list from 18 to 30. Quantities are rather small. It pushes you to add a dessert after the main meal. Wine list : waiter had no idea of the price and of its wine selection. Too bad… Waiters are lost. Too many people are gathering in this place to enjoy cocktails and junk food. At the end of the day at least one world record has been broken : 35min to get one portion of French fries (ordered after we noticed that the portion of fish would never fill the small stomach of our 10 years daughter)…. So. Very close to a disaster. I do sincerely hope that this was...
