The Grotta dell'Angelo is a good budget hotel, well situated in the historic town so as to be within convenient walking distance of all the primary sites. We parked in the monitored lot at the foot of Via Repubblica and walked the short distance to the hotel, rolling our bags along the cobblestone streets. Our room was small and basic, but clean and comfortable, especially for the price. Breakfast of breads, cheese, coffee, and juice came with the price of the room. The staff was very helpful. The restaurant was simple and cozy, and its open-flame grill/fireplace was welcoming on a chilly evening. My meal of penne pasta alla Arrabiata and coniglio (rabbit) with fennels was delicious and reasonably priced, and the aroma of dinner being grilled on the open fire made the experience all the better. Read moreThe entrance to the hotel is really nice. Unfortunately the room did not quite live up to that standard. Whilst clean, neat and comfortable sleeping it was a bit to small for my liking. The bathroom is tiny. Fortunately the shower has a curtain instead of a hard door and so it made showering relatively painless. The hotel is however well located to explore Gubbio by foot. ||||They do not do breakfast only dinner. This was a bit of a disappointment. I had truffle lasagna which was rather bland. Also had veg gratin and mixed fruit both of whom were small helpings. All in all I felt the meal overpriced.||||There is free wifi but...
