Ristorante Pizzeria Da Gaetano — Restaurant in Ischia

Really bad food and scamming tourists. I honestly have no problem paying a bit extra as a tourist or so, but being scammed leaves such a sad and bad feeling.

I was hoping for a beautiful evening — instead, I waited over 50 minutes for a simple salad, which was honestly the worst I’ve ever had. I think they used the corn water as dressing and the tomatoes had wrinkles and were almost dry.

Then I had to wait another 15 minutes just to pay, only to realize they told me (in Italian, and in a really rude way) to pay, shoving the card reader in front of me without telling me the amount, only when my card reached the reader I could see the amount.

After this reeeally long evening, I just paid — only to then be handed the receipt, where I saw they’d charged me for one of their most expensive pizzas.

I was so shocked and embarrassed that I just shook my head, and she started saying something in Italian, with a defensive expression, as if she knew exactly what...

Be very careful if you have allergies!! I came here 2 years ago and ordered a gluten-free, lactose-free pizza which was great and came back today and ordered the same. I asked the waiter, 3 times, in Italian, to please ensure there was no lactose or cheese, as I am allergic (not intolerant). He brought the pizza and I double-checked again, that there was no cheese or lactose. He reassured me there was none. I took 2 bites... and realised there was cheese. Eek! This is very scary for me as my throat tightens up. When I asked him if there was cheese, he said, 'no, but there is Mozzarella'. When I pointed out that Mozzarella is cheese, he said that it wasn't. I visited this place with my family years ago and now that we are here again, it was a must go place. Unfortunately years have not done good for this restaurant. The lack of service and warmness in general was indescribable.

Also the pizza which is ok, is nothing special. Same quality and value is available in every corner. They still have verace pizza napoletana -sign but I honestly think that this place do not meet the standards anymore....
