Trei Canti — Restaurant in La Spezia

Congratulations on being the worst restaurant I have ever tried in all of Italy. Or pretty much the worst Italian restaurant I’ve ever tried anywhere in the world. Had a few beers, which were nice and cold. The service was also great, friendly, and English-speaking. Cool atmosphere too! But for the love of God, do not order the food here. I ordered a Caesar salad, which did not have Caesar dressing - in fact it had no dressing at all, nor did it use the type of lettuce one would normally use for Caesar salad. Basically spinach on a plate. This salad also included beef tartare, which was more like just globs of ground beef from the supermarket, with no flavoring or seasoning whatsoever. That was the better of the two dishes! The other was a cannelloni, which was very clearly purchased in the freezer section of the local supermarket and barely reheated. Had to completely cover it with olive oil to be able to choke it down. This is clearly a very touristy area, which is cool, but have some pride as Italians, you guys can do...

Our visit to Trei Canti was a delightful one. They were clearly at full capacity but we were able to find a spot outside. They have a full bar along with an impressive wine selection. We ordered a few excellent glasses of wine with a focaccia, generously topped with pesto and cheese. It was a delicious combination that truly hit the spot. They seemed like a popular spot among the locals. Their staff was friendly and their service was also relatively fast even with a packed restaurant. Purtroppo la mia esperienza non è stata positiva. Fin dall’inizio l’accoglienza è stata molto deludente: abbiamo provato a interagire con il personale ma sembrava che nessuno ci sentisse o ci desse attenzione. Dopo un po’ di attesa, ci siamo dovuti accomodare da soli, vista la totale assenza di un minimo di accoglienza.

Abbiamo ordinato due cocktail e, al momento del servizio, uno dei bicchieri è accidentalmente scivolato di mano alla cameriera. L’errore può succedere, ovviamente, ma la risposta ricevuta (“almeno non vi ho bagnati”) e il fatto che abbia lasciato il tavolo bagnato, senza nemmeno sostituire il drink, ha dato un’ulteriore sensazione di poca professionalità e attenzione verso il cliente.

Il tavolino, inoltre, era sporco e appiccicoso, e il mio cocktail (una Caipiroska) era davvero poco gradevole.
