Stopped in this great little bed and breakfast over the summer. It was a last minute thing and was attending a wedding right around the corner at dogana veneta by the harbour. The rooms were perfectly adequate above the restaurant, clean, airy, up to date with everything you need (apart from an iron). Breakfast was simple but adequate, continental, bread, ham, cheese, yoghurt etc. Lazise itself is a relatively sleepy town that is obviously busy over the summer. It has the feel of a seaside town but on a lake obviously. There's plenty of lovely restaurants and some of the food is incredible! (The beef carpaccio and truffles I had in Locanda alla chiesa's own restaurant was possibly the best meal I've ever had). The local wine is incredibly cheap at c. 5e for a litre and it's beautiful. There are no late bars in Lazise, generally restaurants and some cafe bars. Locanda alla Chiesa is a bed and breakfast ideal for a couple. Not really for children as there's no dedicated outside space and a couple of very very small balcony's on each floor. It's slightly cheaper than some of the hotels in the area (some are very nice) but of course they have pools, gyms etc. The central location is ideal for Locanda alla Chiesa and In staying there you'll save a fortune in taxi fares as most of the hotels are out of town. Things to do in Lazise... There's plenty of small and unique shops, eat, drink wine, take a boat on the lake. There aren't any beaches on the lake near Lazise which was frustrating. Its a clean place with some great walking territory around Garda itself. Hiring a car is advised in order to visit some of the other towns on the banks and to go further afield up towards como. The summer population swells from the Italian locals to include many Germans and Dutch. There are very few British that way (thankfully). Generally, a nice place to relax for a week although a bit of a hassle to get to, Verona is close bit to fly direct you're from london and it's expensive. The next closest is Milan bergamo direct from Manchester which is much cheaper but an hour away although can be travelled on very easily on the train from the airport into Verona with a...
Read moreFirst impressions from outside were good. It's in the middle of the town area and has a patio heater and tent sides which with the chilly April evenings was a welcome site! Once inside I was slightly put off by the number of tables that still needed clearing but gave the place a chance. Glad we did the food was excellent. Seafood pastas still in shells was presented in a 'shell' dish and contained a generous portion of well cooked fresh tasting shell fish with some tasty spaghetti and fresh tomatoes. Was a delight to eat and that alone with no other courses other than the warm bread rolls provided was enough for me. Drinks seem expensive here but that seems to be the case for all of Italy to be honest. Only downfall was the service which wasn't great but could have been far worse. Took a while but we weren't in a rush and waitresses didn't look like they were slouching just not paying enough attention so easily distracted doing other tasks. Would I return, the quality of the food...

I bagni moderni e pulitissimi. Ottimi cibi e ben presentati. Il nostro voto è senz'altro...
