Le Vigne Di Sammarco - Wine Bar & Shop — Restaurant in Lecce

Yesterday we ate beautiful local food at this wine bar/ristorante. Pino, the waiter, recognised us from a few days ago en served a beautiful bottle of red wine form one of the best local grapes im Puglia, a Primitivo from San Marco. He keeps the red wines at a temperature of 13° in a wine climate fridge! That gave the wine even much more greatness and depth, than normally, when served at room temperature. By the way, room temperature here would be 35°or somthing. That is how warm it is here in Lecce. The tagliate di manzo with rocket and cheese, together with a beautiful plate of spaghetti con Pecorino as a side dish, made this evening more than complete!! I advise you to reserve a table immediately for stasera! The pure simplicity makes the quality of this place so very Italian (because you feel right at home), and excellent! Nice local wine bar, touristic place, the atmosphere is very rustic and friendly. Friday night the place was busy, full and crowded with local people. We had white wine, big plate seafood appetizers and small plate prosciutto and cheese. Found out that some of the food is self-produced by the Di Sammarco farm which is great. Their chardonne wine was nice as well. The seafood was fresh and delicious. The service was very good, attentive and polite. Good value for money though it could be even better. I visited this place on a couple of occasions whilst in Lecce and found good food (while they were serving) and wine options for prices that were better than more central establishments. I read a review saying the staff didn't speak English: during my visits I can say that several members of staff did. The shop offers a good variety and for prices that suit different budgets.
