I recently had the pleasure of dining at La Mela Restaurant and I must say, it was a remarkable experience from start to finish. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality that set the tone for the rest of the evening.

We came for a pizza and tiramisu in this restaurant because of the good reviews. Unfortunately we faced an angry, chaotic, stressed, unwelcoming woman who made the whole experience really bad. Other customers in the restaurant were looking around awkwardly because they could feel her stressed. I’m not sure if the place is understaffed or she is running it but, the whole thing was too awkward. Clearly 3-4 tables empty and she’s clearly sending away tourists. We had to take a take away because she said she had no tables. We ordered our pizzas but then I asked if we could have 2 desserts (including the famous tiramissu) whilst we wait. What more normal than doing a bit of upselling and have your take away people have a dessert whilst they wait! She denied to give tiramisu because it’s on glass. There was an unused table just for people who are waiting. We said we could just sit there for 10’ whilst we wait and have a dessert and a drink. She denied. Then she asked us to wait outside of the restaurant which is fine. We observed what was happening and when a very kind slightly older couple asked where their food is she almost yelled at them. Disgraceful. I really don’t know why this person is still working there and what is the verdict but someone really needs to pay some attention. BUGS will fall on your food. Horrible service. This cafeteria was the most hostile and rude experience I’ve came across. Not only in Italy but anywhere I’ve travelled to. The woman with black hair and glasses in particular, assuming she’s the owner, was extremely aggressive and rude from the start.

We had bugs falling all over our table and on our food because of the overhead lamps (probably stinging them). We politely moved since the waitress and owner were cranky and unwilling to help and instead of accommodating us for the move and apologising for the troubles, the “owner” started yelling at me saying next time I’d pay for moving tables. Sorry what? Everyone looked at her in disbelief, and rightly so because who would talk like this and cause a scene? Much less to a paying customer? Her reaction was like as if I was robbing her bootleg restaurant…insane.

We should’ve charged them €4 for the horrible seating and dealing with unhinged staff, not vice versa.

Update: According to the r*cist owner we shouldn’t complain about bugs because we “come from a country that eats cockroaches and has no cleanliness”. Direct quote. They’ve flagged and removed all negative reviews so beware including this one. I...
