L'Ostricaio — Restaurant in Livorno

Appears to be a popular spot as people were waiting for a table when we left. Limited tables inside, so best to book. We sat out to the side, which is actually a rather rough gravel area where they have squeezed in extra tables, so no good if you have mobility issues. I ordered a pasta dish with crab meat. Turned out the meat was in some claws which were buried in tomato sauce. I tried to extract the meat. Not much meat in the claws and and i got covered in sauce. The pasta was cold by the time I cleaned off the mess. My wife ordered a dish off the menu but was presented with something else. The waiter was surprised when we showed him the dish she wanted on the menu. What she got was good but not what she expected. We were told to scan a QR code on a block of wood for the menu. The code hasn't printed well on the blocks so we spent a lot of time trying to get it working. A dissapointing meal. Perhaps due in part to a poor choice of dish on my part and our limited Italian. The food at this restaurant is very good, but unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by the poor service we received. The hostes who served us, who coincidentally is Latina like us, treated us with a discriminatory and unprofessional attitude, which was very disappointing. While we were excited to support a business with good food, we did not expect to feel uncomfortable in an environment that should be inclusive and welcoming, especially from someone who shares our roots.

I hope management takes steps to improve customer service, as this type of attitude can severely affect the experience, regardless of the quality...

Un Esperienza più unica che rara. All'arrivo abbiamo trovato questo ragazzo (uno pseudo responsabile). Che alla richiesta del posto fuori, con il viso un po' stizzito, ci indica un tavolo all'interno, in alternativa gli sgabelli fuori. Ovviamente dato il caldo abbiamo optato per gli sgabelli, altro viso stizzito. La serata prosegue abbastanza tranquilla finché, a distanza di circa 6/7 mt, mi accorgo che lo stesso responsabile, mi fissa in continuazione con aria sospetta. Non potevo ancora immaginare. Mangiamo il nostro primo senza problemi, nemmeno il tempo di assaggiare il cacciucco, che mi sento osservato. Inizia lo show, un carabiniere in divisa, alle spalle mi chiede con voce imponente i documenti, alla richiesta del motivo, ci viene risposto "un controllo del ristorante." (risposta che ancora devo capire sinceramente) Nel frattempo la sentinella si era dileguata nelle retrovie. Passano i 15 minuti più vergognosi della mia vita, siamo stati fissati come fuggitivi del 41 bis, da tutta la sala. Riotteniamo i documenti, con le scuse del carabiniere, che aggiunge, siete stati scambiati per qualcun'altro. Versione che cambia quando dal nulla riappare il Capo. Esordendo con, "ci spiace ragazzi, dei turisti di passaggio vi hanno scambiato per truffaldini che, giorni indietro avevano rubato portafogli, ed hanno chiamato i carabinieri". Non finisce qui, appare un secondo cameriere, giovane e un po' incosciente, Che ci dice, "sapete, ci hanno derubati la settimana scorsa, e sembravate proprio loro". Chiudiamo la serata avvicinandoci al banco per il conto : 2 primi 35€, 2 secondi 45€ 1 falanghina 24€ecc ecc, (tot un centinaio di €) "IL CAFFÈ VE LO OFFRIAMO NOI CI MANCHEREBBE". Più un po' di sconto, a suo dire. Conto 95€. Ps: Con un altra versione ancora, ma diventerebbe infinita la storia. Peccato perché avevamo...
