🍦🌟 OVER-THE-TOP REVIEW: LA VENETA – A SWEET SANCTUARY SINCE 1927 🌟🍦

After navigating the travel chaos of Pisa to Lucca—train schedules, overheated crowds, and the kind of station noise that feels like it could dislodge a giant ball of earwax—I stumbled into paradise: La Veneta, proudly serving since 1927, and thank the gelato gods for that.

This place isn’t just a gelateria—it’s a historic institution, a reset button for your soul, and a cool, creamy love letter to Tuscany. The moment you step inside, the chaos of the outside world melts away—just like their gelato, which starts melting in the most poetic, slow-motion way as soon as it hits the cone.

I went for a classic combo—hazelnut and vanilla—and it was pure emotional repair in a waffle cone. Silky, rich, flavorful enough to make you question your life choices up to that moment. “Why haven’t I been living inside this gelato case forever?” you’ll wonder.

The staff? Efficient, calm, and in total command of the craft. The “STOP! Attendi…” sign is just the cherry on top—because you wait your turn for greatness.

If your day needs a reboot, if your spirit needs a hug, or if you're just a human being with taste buds—La Veneta is where you go to remember that everything is going to be okay.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Born in 1927. Still saving lives—and clearing...

If you think you can only find great gelato in the big cities, then you haven't come here yet! While not the best we had during our Italy trip, it was still excellent and would be somewhere we'd go back to over and over again if we could take the place home with us.

Unfortunately I don't remember all the flavours we had, but the stracciatella was great (good ratio of chocolate shards to gelato, and the flavour was great), the strawberry was decent (wish it had a bit stronger strawberry flavour), the pistachio was fragrant, and the melon came through with strong, tasty flavours.

Service was great with smiling faces all around. There's indoor and...

I’m 11 years old and this is amazing! I’m Dutch and on vacation in Lucca. Every evening if we go have dinner in lucca we eat ice cream here.

There are a lot of different options. From pistachio to strawberry. Al the flavours are delicious.

The place is good it’s right next to the piazza dell’anfiteatro were we eat every time, so you don’t have to walk far.

The service is very fast and the staff is very nice. In comparison to the Netherlands it isn’t very expensive, but maybe it...

This was our favourite gelateria in Lucca and Matilda started recognising us which was super cute. There was always service with a smile and the gelato was amazing! The prices varied from small (€2.30) all the way up to Maxi (€4.20). There were so many great flavours to choose from – we loved the fruitier flavours as well as the dark chocolate (wow!). Don’t miss a trip here.
