The small Bontà — Restaurant in Lucca

Best mf gelato I’ve had in my 3 months in Italy. I always love the classics, and they do that here, but what really forced me into writing a review before I’d even finished my cup is the novel flavors. I was lucky enough to taste a few like salty chestnut with pinoli, candied fruit, and rosemary, fluffy meringue, and chewy, spicy pear-ginger. When they all tasted like pure heaven I knew I was in more of a predicament than I thought. Decision-making paralysis. If you’re a fellow innovative-flavor lover, this is a safe place in which to close your eyes and point at the display- no matter what you choose, you will not only not be disappointed, but you’ll be wowed by flavors you couldn’t have conceived on your own. Perhaps I’ll move to Lucca just so I can become a regular customer....

Ambiente molto carino, soprattutto all'interno, con un'insegna che purtroppo non è all'altezza del gradevole arredamento. Il locale si trova a cinque minuti dal centro storico e si presenta per lo più come gelateria, pur offrendo anche un buon assortimento di torte gelato e pasticcini mignon. NON è una pasticceria e purtroppo cornetti e altre paste sono di origine surgelata. Facciamo colazione con cappuccio e latte macchiato: ottimi entrambi e servizio cordiale. Le paste dolci sono purtroppo deludenti, tanto il cornetto quanto il tortino di riso (estremamente asciutto).
