We visited this restaurant for dinner with high hopes, but unfortunately left feeling disappointed and somewhat misled. I initially ordered the cod (€27), but the waiter strongly encouraged me to switch to the daily special - a fresh sea bass/sea bream - instead. When I asked for the price, he said it would be "around €45" for a dish meant to be shared between two people, but noted the final price could vary depending on the fish’s weight. He then offered to serve a smaller portion just for one person, which I accepted.
From the moment we sat down, it took over an hour for the main dish to arrive. What was served was a modest portion of fish with a small side of potatoes, olives, and sauce. When the bill came, I was shocked to see the dish priced at €65. I had clearly asked for the price in advance and made my decision based on the information I was given. Charging more than double the cost of the dish I originally ordered - and even €20 more than the initial estimate for a portion meant for two people - felt unfair and frustrating.
Given that I had explicitly asked about the price, it seems clear I was price conscious. If the fish turned out to be significantly more expensive than anticipated, I would have appreciated a check-in before preparing and serving it. After expressing our dissatisfaction, they reduced the price to €50 which still is excessive for the size and flavor of the dish.
As for the food itself, the quality didn’t live up to the prices. The flavors were underwhelming – lacking seasoning and depth. We were also encouraged to try a starter that our server described as “amazing,” but it turned out to be a small serving of raw salmon with avocado and a bland white sauce, priced at €18.
On the positive side, the ambiance was pleasant, and the staff were attentive. We were served complimentary bread and a small appetizer, which was a nice touch. The service, while friendly, crossed into pushy at times, especially when guiding us toward dishes that ultimately disappointed.
In short, this restaurant has potential, but our experience was marred by unclear pricing, underwhelming food, and a feeling of being upsold. We left feeling let down and...
Read moreThis is a fabulous restaurant with fabulous food and fabulous servers that are hovering to help you. It’s got white tablecloths and white napkins and beautiful silverware and beautiful view overlooking the Mediterranean right at the top of the hill. It’s also a glorious place to walk around both during the day and night. The food is delicious and I had a dessert that was absolutely incredible. I could eat five of them, although it was a great big dessert with in the center, it had a lemon yogurt foam with little dots of some sort of jam And little bits of sugared almonds, and then around it fresh fruit, and some raspberry sorbet and various smears of coulis. I had a pasta dish that had a very unusual shaped spaghetti. It’s called Tagliolini. It’s kind of a square cut spaghetti. It had tomato sauce on it made of three different kinds of tomatoes, and it was just perfect. I think I’m going to extend my stay in the hotel down the street just so I can come here a couple more times and sample some of their other selections because it’s a wonderful selection of food. I don’t eat much so I just had the spaghetti but people who eat much would just have that as one course. I had a liter bottle of water of sparkling water and I had the pasta dish and the wonderful dessert and it’s in a $30 range and...
Read moreQuaint corner restaurant off the beaten path in Santa Teresa Gallura, a few minutes walk from a gorgeous beach and around the corner from a gelateria, this adorable restaurant sits waiting. We sat in their front patio with views of Mediterranean and Corsica in the distance in one direction and the colorful homes of the town in the other. White table cloth, but relaxed, the hospitality was excellent, welcoming, and attentive without distracting - perfect touch. We started with a complimentary amuse bouche of fresh baked bread and whipped butter with sprinkled bottarga (a Sardinian must). We followed with a pasta with shrimp carpaccio - delicious; then a plate of fried seafood with pineapple and delicious house made tartar; finished with a sea bass that was deboned and filleted table side so very delicately with a spoon and fork. We didn't save room for dessert but we saw some come out for the tables around us and they looked delicious. Complimented by local Sardinian white wine, we felt like we did well and thank the Michelin guide for pointing us in the right direction. Overall an excellent experience 10 out of 10,...
