We may have visited this restaurant on an off day because the reviews are amazing and that's why we chose it. The restaurant itself is lovely and the chef plates food beautifully.
Maybe we just got a bad waiter. The service was severely lacking. Although we had a reservation, we waited a very long time to be seated and greeted by our waiter. Thankfully the thoughtful hostess helped us order some drinks before we sat down. We were very hungry and after waiting at least 45 minutes for our waiter to greet us, I finally flagged him down and asked if he would at least put some olive oil and bread on the table. He gave me an annoyed look and said he was getting around to it. It came about 10 minutes later.
I felt that our waiter was kind of arrogant and he didn't check on us to see how the food was or to find out whether we needed drinks or anything else. Later, when we were ready to leave, he decided to give us a free digestive; which was a very nice gesture, but it didn’t make up for 2 1/2 hours of bad service.
Foodwise, we ordered the waygu carpaccio and grilled octopus for appetizers. The grilled octopus itself was excellent, but it was served in a creamy potato sauce that was very bland. The waygu carpaccio was mushy and tasteless so we didn't finish it. I ordered the boiled lobster, which was served cold with cold veggies. The lobster was pretty good. If you choose to order it, I would recommend asking the market price up front. I was served a small spiny lobster (no claws) and it was 115 Euro. The veggies were unseasoned and looked great but were difficult to eat because they were hard and served upright in cup, which made it almost impossible to pierce them with a fork. My daughter had the gnocchi chjusoni galluresi, which she enjoyed. My son had the beef filet, which was delicious and cooked perfectly- the clear winner out of all our dishes.
For the cost of this meal, I feel that we should have gotten better...
Read moreWe ordered the chefs menu…long story short do NOT order it. One of the first things in this menu was a grouper in a basil cone, the grouper seemed to have been sitting in this cone for so long it absorbed the fish juice and was probably one of the most disgusting things we have ever eaten. It got worse from there - and came out so quickly it seemed to be pre plated (which explains the soggy grouper cone). This menu is just so over the top in such a bad way - fish with coffee grinds served in a dome of smoke, seafood salad with some sickly sweet blue mussel foam?? We love food and don’t mind paying high amounts for good food -I rarely send food back, but I could not stomach this menu and ended up canceling the order. The manager I spoke to was very nice and understanding as I apologized for this - again I rarely send things back as I hate doing it. Wouldn’t go back, the chefs menu seemed like a social experiment - I genuinely do not understand how someone could actually stomach some of that food or even enjoy it. I read some other reviews to see if anyone had the same experience, and I must say the owners responses to some of the low reviews tell you everything you need to know about this establishment. We got lucky with a nice manager, but I would not and will not support the owner. Learn to take...
Read moreOverall a good experience, we enjoyed our meal. However! With high expectations you expect everything to be great, it wasnt.
We ordered fried shrimp and iberico cold cut for starters. The iberico cut cant go wrong, just plate it (it was great) The fried shrimp was quite ordinary, it was good overall but the "hot sauce" was sweet chili sauce straight out of the bottle which we really did not expect.
For our main course we had wagyu and shrimp pasta
My wagyu was served well done, I do not know if it was on purpose or not. Whenever ive had wagyu previously it has been served medium or medium/rare which I highly prefer. The wagyu was served with mashed/puree potato and mushroom sauce. The puree and sauce was almost liquid.
The shrimp pasta was good, but not great.
We also had dessert, it was great. No idea what it was, but it was great.
The service was great, they were alert and you literally just had to look (and linger for a few seconds) at any of the staff and they would come over.
I do recommend a visit, if this wasnt perceived and priced as a fine dining/high end restaurant I would rate it higher.
Total came up to 180-190 euro for above, 1 glass of wine and...
