It is a small restaurant . Patio was closed due to the rain . I ordered the Catch of the day , I asked what kind of fish it was , the server said it was a red fish , it came to the table , it was a white fish , not red . My son ordered a main course , as he didn’t want a appetizer , his main course came after we were finished our appetizers , he later ordered an appetizer , both of his plates came before ours . So when our main courses came , he didn’t have a plate . It would of been nice for him to eat with us . Service was not tentative , not once did a server come by to ask how our meal was , can I bring you something else , I had to get someone attention if I wanted another drink , or order a bottle wine . I will not be back . I asked for side plates for the table , server brings me 1, He wanted the table to share 1 plate for olive oil and Balsamic. And when the bill came , the internet didn’t work , so u couldn’t pay by credit card . Did he come back to try again , no he did not . On our way out , my son overheard 1 of the servers say a rude comment . This is unacceptable in the service industry . I want the Owner , Manager to...
Read moreWe went to Al Mare Bistrot this evening with my parents for the first time, and unfortunately, we left very disappointed. I am originally from the area, though I have been living abroad for many years, so I was really looking forward to a good seafood experience.
We ordered two small starters which cost €44, but the fish was far from fresh and noticeably overcooked, leaving it chewy and unpleasant. The mains were no better — €54 for three Paccheri that not only tasted poor but actually made me feel unwell while eating them. Again, the fish quality was extremely disappointing.
On top of that, we were charged €2.50 for “still water” that was clearly just tap water, and €7 for a small glass of white wine. For these prices, one would expect high quality, but sadly this was not the case.
There are plenty of restaurants along the coast that serve genuinely fresh fish. This is not one of them. Be mindful before booking — we will certainly not be returning or recommending...
Read moreGood location. The avenue acts as a pleasant breezeway. Friendly and helpful service. Attractive table setting.
Mackerel lard appetizer, ordered to exclude the lard, was excellent. Mackerel is nicely grilled, with just a hint of teriyaki sauce (they use just a bit of ponzu). Fettuccine with scampi was ok. To me, somewhat bland. Main courses were major disappointments.
Salt baked fish (sea bass) is brought to the table, where the salt sarcophagus is broken off and the fish is filleted. The first indication of a problem was when the waiter had trouble lifting off full fillets. The problem was affirmed by the mealiness of the flesh. The fish was severely over-cooked.
My wife had mixed fried seafood. Lightly breaded, which is nice. But, again, over-cooked. The majority of pieces where fried to a dark brown color and the seafood was tough.
The main courses were so bad, that I would rate it a one-star if it weren’t for the setting and the...
