So let me preface the review by saying that we went here twice. The first time was for lunch, and while the price to quality ratio did not blow us away, the ambience of the lemon garden and the cook on the fish dishes (tuna and swordfish) was good enough and the dishes were perfectly fine (although the puree for tuna was rather flavourless). We decided to give this place another chance at dinner time. But it was the second round that proved a total disaster.
We started with the recommended starter of nine different appetisers. The only problem was that most of them were lackluster (or in case of what seemed like a fish cake, just devoid of distinct flavour), with octopus and what seemed like a take on a seafood lasagna being clear stand outs. In terms of drinks, the virgin Pina colada was subpar but drinkable. Conversely, the artisanal beer bottled in the place is very nice indeed and we can wholeheartedly recommend it.
But then came the mains. Now, I realize that there's always a risk that a particular flavour does not come through. Well, in this case I was warned of Colatura di alici. However, this actually proved the only ray of sunshine in an otherwise bland, insipid, texture-wise unpleasant and chewy pasta dish that was supposed to be a lovely homage to two dishes of old and instead turned to be an inedible mess that is as horrid to look as it is to eat. Olives and capers alongside nuts were supposed to create an inspiring combination of flavours but somehow the watery sauce falls short on all fronts. The fish is awful to the point of me not being able to finish. Fortunately, the raviolis were decent. When the staff were told about our feelings regarding the said pasta dish, they seemingly just shrugged it off, blaming it on colatura (despite my protests that in fact Colatura was its only saving grace). Not a behaviour that I would expect nor accept when paying above one hundred euros for a meal that left at least one of us hungry.
So yes, the ambience is lovely (though why use plastic plates for our ravioli dish?), the olive oil they mix with basil and lemon peel is tasty, but what were supposed to be the main stars of the show - the actual dishes - completely let us down. Some are decent, some below average and, in the case of that one pasta dish, some are absolutely dreadful on multiple levels. The reaction of the waiting staff and their complete disinterest in the feedback means I have to dissuade anyone from coming here. Please avoid. There are much better...
Read moreWe had an unforgettable dining experience at Pineta 1903 in Maiori. From the moment we stepped in and sat under the enchanting lemon tree, the ambiance set the tone for a perfect evening. The food was exceptional – truly high-class and prepared with care and attention to detail. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor, showcasing the best of Italian cuisine.
What surprised us most was how few guests were dining, given the fantastic quality of the food. Pineta 1903 deserves to be bustling with customers, as it offers everything one could hope for in a memorable dining experience – from the fresh and locally sourced ingredients to the warm, welcoming service.
If you’re in the Amalfi Coast, don’t miss out on this hidden gem. You won’t be disappointed! Highly recommended.

Read moreDISASTER!! We ordered the tuna and salmon tartar as well as the eggplant and tomato dish (which my friend said was great) but wow this was seriously inedible. The tartar has tiny drops of appeal sauce around the plate that carried no flavour and was not mixed into the tartar at all making it taste very fishy and very plain. Each plate was €18 which is an absolutely ridiculous price for what we received. We asked the staff very kindly as we were shy to say something as we had previously requested soy sauce to add SOMETHING to this dish and Carlos was incredibly rude. He did not look at me in the eyes while i was speaking, was speaking over me and did not listen to anything that was said and very obviously wanted us out when we had don’t nothing wrong. He took the plates off of us immediately and yes he did ask if we wanted something else but after the way he had spoken to me we immediately felt unwanted and dismissed by not only him but by all staff. Our meals were luckily taken off the bill and we left. This restaurant is not worth the “lemon tree vibe” and we are all very upset as we had been looking forward to this dinner and we’re all dressed up for it. Never have I ever experienced rudeness and such bad service from what seems to be the manager and then being ignored by all staff when we were leaving. if a 0/5 review was possible I...
