The atmosphere in the restaurant was really awful! Owner was screaming and angry to the waiters and kitchen staff during 50 minutes we were at the restaurant. We wait for more than 35 minutes to get our plate....small portions of pasta with just ok flavor.. ... since I speak very good italia I could understand all staff complain about owner actitude ( believe, not nice at all!!) Since we order a pizza at the beginning an it was finish according to the owner, we got pasta...40minutes later pizza started to run to diferentes tables. When I asked why pizza is now available and no before, he says that the dope of the pizza was nor ready to use, but since ' they are foreigner they will be OK with this pizza, you are locals and that's why I did not make for you ".....no coments. At the end , the owner insisted to offer us a hand .made limoncello. I saw the bottle and it was a super comercial fluo colored liquid inside...typical for foreigners. I asked him several times if this was really hand made., and he guarantees it was made by family....it was a Lie !!! he admitted outside of the restaurant to me because I proved to him that I knew more that he thought about limoncello. ( I make myself for long time) fluorescent colored green with water consistency= no hand made limocello. It must be light yellow and with relatively thick consistency. So , if you have another place to eat, just don't came to this place. Btw...double check your bill they will charge a 10% extra for the service . So prices are higher than they show in the menu.....I just surprises a lot how they treat to foreigners.if they are nice to you is just to get you tips!!!...
Read moreWe were on our way to another restaurant when Mario stopped us on the street. He told us that he was the 5th generation to own this restaurant but as far as we can tell - it may be the last. Having decided what we wanted, I was told rather rudely by a waitress chewing gum that the seafood risotto was only available for minimum of 2 people despite it not saying this on the menu. Following this the bread eventually came and having nibbled a piece or two it was taken away. Whilst awaiting our mains, two waiters tried to bring us 2 further baskets of bread! The couple behind us had been waiting an hour for even their starter to arrive! 2 of our 3 main dishes eventually arrived and my main came 8 minutes later! The large table across from us had finished their dishes before the final lady eventually got her pizza. They do not serve everyone at the same time! The food is okay, although the spaghetti with seafood was just plain spaghetti with a few scattered clams and muscles. The veal and sea bass were worthy of a 3 or 4 star so compliments to the chef for that. We were overall very disappointed as I'm sure at least 3 of the other tables were too as we could hear many complaints to the waiting staff. I must say we were seated within minutes which right away gave me a good feeling about this restaurant, it surpassed my expectations, this is by far one of the best restaurants we’ve eaten at . The restaurant is very clean and gives you that at home feeling. , its a family owned restaurant and that is exactly how you feel when you come here to eat , they treat you like family , the seafood is out of this world , the frittura and mussels are amazing couldn’t stop eating them we ordered 4 servings that’s how good they were . The orata , risotto and margarita pizza were also amazing . The servers which were father and son , down to earth genuine great people we had an amazing experience at this restaurant., the price was decent but most important you felt the value in the food and how fresh and amazing it tasted. My family and I would definitely revisit this restaurant 110 percent and would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Maiori, take it from my family and I give this restaurant a chance to show you what food at its best is, believe me you’ll be glad you did.
