Itâs very difficult to start a review when youâve consistently encountered the best food, service and hospitality from any restaurant youâve visited since I can remember, but I will try my best.
I have dined all over the world in the best restaurants from famed Michelin star rated chef restaurants in London, New York, Madrid, Copenhagen and Florida all the way to local eateries tucked away waiting to be found. In each restaurant I go in I look for a good atmosphere, good wine and beer selection, and of course the food menu has to be authentic, varied, appealing and not over the top. I am very big on service, I like to feel welcome and looked after.
Mariammare offered my family and I the warmest welcome on our first visit. We found the atmosphere very relaxed with cool ambient music playing, but not too loud, just something to set the tone for a wonderful evening. The wine list is excellent, as are the choices of beers and soft drinks for the children.
Then thereâs the food â My goodness me, the food is where this place just accelerates far into the distance from its closest rivals in the region. All the fish food is locally sourced from their beautiful clear oceans and served fresh on the day â You really can tell the difference. Their fresh baked bread is without a single shred of a doubt doubt the finest bread Iâve ever had the pleasure of eating and the deserts are equally as mind blowing as the rest of the menu.
The owner Pino is the warmest host, who will happily share his expertise and years of knowledge of preparing and cooking Italian food. His team and chefs are the best in the region â I would pitch them against any team in Europe for their cooking ability, friendliness, and just a brilliant team ethic. Pino has got a great thing going there at this wonderful restaurant.
Like anything, you need to seek this place out, it isnât on the main street like some of the other rather bland eateries in Maiori, with everything that is worth it in life, you have to actively go and find it, but when you find this restaurant, I can assure you that your taste buds are in for a treat.
The prices range is what youâd expect from such a good restaurant, itâs definitely not cheap⊠but is cheap what youâre looking for⊠really? You get what you pay for here, great food at a reasonable price. If you want cheap food, Iâm sure thereâs some fast food places that will throw you a burger somewhere.
The attention to detail at Mariammare from the shot glasses, to the table lamps, to the trays to the cutlery, right down to the varied and interesting pictures on the walls telling their own stories of Pinoâs culinary journey are all so fascinating.
We visited 4 times in the week and I wish Iâd have found the time to visit more because the food was consistently brilliant as was the welcome. My wife and daughter loved it here and we were really made to feel part of the Mariammare family. We were so sad when we left and said our goodbyes, but what I would say is we will be going back again for sure.
So if like me you enjoy a proper 600g steak, or enjoy freshly sourced local seafood, or a pizza that is based with freshly made dough thatâs slightly singed around the edges, or pasta dishes, cooked by authentic Italian chefs that stick to traditional cooking methods, then I would highly recommend this restaurant. Oh, and the deserts are just delicious from the tiramisu to their De Limone sponge cakes.
There is nowhere on the coast that can offer all the facets Iâve just mentioned above all under one roof apart from Mariammare. Keep doing your thing Pino, you and your team...
Read moreA truly beautiful restaurant with a comfortable atmosphere and beautifully laid-back dining. This is my first time in Italy and my first time in this city. I have eaten at four or five restaurants here in the past few days, but the food at this restaurant seemed very delicious and fresh to me. I first had an antipasti 1:CALAMARI đŠ CON LA PATATA with some braids which was incredibly tasty. Then I had a pasta dish. 1: PACCHERI ALLA COSTIERA It was a very tasty pasta made mainly with tuna fish. There was also a mix of something else that I don't remember the name of but it was very tasty đđ Then I had their sweets Dolce and lemoncello and coffee which was very nicely served. The staff was very friendly and helped us choose everything and made the dishes he recommended which we were very happy to eat and he was very friendly. The special thing is that the prices of their food are not too high for the quality of their food, in my opinion it is perfect.đđ» I can say that this restaurant was the best experience I had in Italy in terms of food, which is never something to say. I sincerely congratulate the staff for such a beautiful atmosphere in their food. Special thanks for...

My oldest son picked up three takeaway pizzas from this place, two Margheritas and one with mushrooms. He was back within minutes, so they were still hot, but even freshly made, they were simply inedible.
The toppings were watery, and the mushrooms were very slimy. For just a few slimy and rubbery slices of mushrooms we were charged an extra 4 euros! ( check photo)
I took one bite and had to spit it out. The kids, hungry as they were, managed to eat theirs but werenât happy with them either. I walked mine back to the restaurant and dropped it off without saying a word. Maybe I couldâve explained, but honestly they handed these pizzas over knowing exactly what they were giving out. Thatâs not just a mistake, thatâs careless. And we were travelling and on the move, no time for complaints, even if justified. As someone with professional experience in the hospitality industry, itâs disappointing to see food like this leave a kitchen.
Maybe it was a bad day, or someone inexperienced in the kitchen, Iâll never know. This was by far the worst pizza weâve had during our trip...
