I had a delightful lunch experience at Trattoria Scaligeri yesterday. Located a bit away from the main courtyard, this charming restaurant offers a taste of authentic Italian cuisine. I opted for the grilled aubergine with Parmigiano, and it was simply delicious! The flavours were rich and perfectly complemented by the homemade lemonade, which was refreshing and not too sweet.
However, one minor point to note is that the tomato sauce was slightly too strong and overtook the taste of the aubergine. This is more of a personal preference, as I enjoy a milder sauce that allows the natural flavours of the ingredients to shine through. I imagine the sauce might pair well with bread, but unfortunately, I couldn't try it due to my wheat allergy. On the bright side, I was pleased to find out that they could offer gluten-free bread, a thoughtful accommodation for those with dietary restrictions.
Despite this, the staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. Trattoria Scaligeri's ambience was cosy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a taste of traditional Italian fare with a welcoming touch. I will definitely be returning to try more of their delectable offerings. A must-visit...
Read moreYesterday we visited this restaurant. Very nice atmosphere and very kind people. Though, the 3 stars is due to the price/quality. I took the fish which was 17 euros (which was very tasty) and this was without anything extra. So I took the mixed vegetables with it. This was a poor choice. It costs 7 euros and it were 7 extremely small slices of aubergine (2), courgette (3) and peppers (2 pieces). Ridiculous. My boyfriend took the carbonara. Ok, but not exceptional. We make it better at home. All in all a nice restaurant. However price/quality we had better...
Read moreFound this little pearl of a restaurant by coincidence. It didn’t look like much peeking in from the outside, but we were so thrilled when seated in the romantic, open-roofed yard/area. The food and service was also excellent. However it was quite a warm evening in Malcesine, and we could have used some cooling, as it become quite humid. We would absolutely visit again to experience the food...
