Enoteca "La Strada del Vino di Marsala" — Restaurant in Marsala

Initially we thought this was just a wine tasting stand with a few tables dotted around the courtyard in the distance. Oh how wrong we were!

We did sample some wines before looking at a menu. A great selection of Marsala wines to get your taste buds warmed up.

We went through to the courtyard and were seated by the most welcoming and friendly staff. The two ladies serving us wore genuine smiles and were more than happy to help with anything we needed, including great knowledge of the menu.

The tables are the courtyard were fairly spaced out and it would be easy to think they could easily triple the seating, but it is immediately evident they’re working on quality rather than quantity.

The food was out of this world! Whilst the portions appeared a little small at first, they more than made up for it in taste and were surprisingly filling. The lasagne and swordfish with accompanying grilled vegetables is highly recommended.

There is a beautiful ambience about the place, well positioned tables, great music and the most beautiful location.

Lovely courtyard to sit in and the Marsala wine they have by the glass is really good, I recommend this place for aperitivo. The red prawn tartare was also a delight!

BUT, and that is a big but, the service should be more attentive. Came for the first time at noon, asked whether the kitchen is open, they tell me yes, I should seat myself. I wait and wait for the menu, but leave after noone attends to me. I am thinking "OK, the menu looked interesting, gonna come back later".

That I did after an hour or so and sadly, again I was seated, no menu brought but the waitress comes to me to already as if to take my order, thinking someone has brought me one. What is more for the whole time that I was eating my risotto (which was blander than bland, don't recommend it) the two tables next to me were not cleaned up, although the courtyard was half-empty. Not a very nice setting to eat. It seemed everyone was more invested in some building works that were taking place at this time.

Esperienza terribile. Ci siamo fatti ingannare dalla bellezza della location, che io da marsalese conosco bene e ho frequentato in passato prima che venisse aperto questo ristorante. Purtroppo è veramente uno spreco di questo bellissimo spazio. Ci siamo seduti alle 21 e il cibo ci è stato servito alle 23, assolutamente vergognoso. Il cameriere che si occupava del nostro tavolo era di un'arroganza assurda e quando gli abbiamo fatto notare che i nostri piatti ancora non fossero arrivati, invece di scusarsi come una persona a cui importa dei propri clienti, ha risposto da gran maleducato. Attenzione ai clienti assolutamente 0. Quando abbiamo finalmente mangiato, ci siamo resi conto che anche il cibo lasciava a desiderare, porzioni minuscole e qualità scarsa. Delusi, finalmente decidiamo di andarcene, un altro cameriere, sicuramente più gentile del precedente, si scusa per il disagio e ci fa uno "sconto" a detta sua di 30 euro. (Lui aveva insistito per offrirci una bottiglia di vino, ma noi ancora arrabbiati e affamati abbiamo chiesto che ci venisse fatto uno sconto sul totale) Anche se in realtà, facendo i calcoli successivamente, ci siamo resi conto che il conto era abbastanza più alto rispetto a ciò che abbiamo ordinato, e che probabilmente eravamo stati presi anche in giro con questo sconto. La peggior esperienza avuta nella mia città.

Terrible experience. We got fooled by the appealing location, which I know really well as I am from Marsala and I used to visit this place before it became a restaurant. Which unfortunately is a waste of this beautiful space. We sat down at 9pm and got served our food at 11pm. The waiter looking after us, when confronted with the fact that we have been waiting for nearly 2 hours for our food, replied in a very rude way, and never once apologised for the delay or for his lack of customer care. When finally we got our food, that was also a big disappointment. Small portions and low quality. We decide to leave and another waiter tries to make it up to us by apologising and offering a discount (he wanted to gift us a bottle of wine, but we insisted to get money off the bill as we were left hungry and annoyed). He gives us a 30 euro discount on the total, but later on we realize we have probably been charged more than we should have considering what we ordered, so we got scammed a second time.
