La Bottega del Carmine — Restaurant in Marsala

We had high hopes for this restaurant due to the pictures and reviews on Google. The inner courtyard was quite cozy and ambient and comfortable. Unfortunately it was like fine dining prices with the experience of a cafeteria. When I ordered the appetizer and then said we would need more time for deciding on food and wine, the waiter impatiently said he couldn’t put in the order for the appetizer without the whole order so he would delete the request and come back when we were ready to order everything. We ordered dinner and a bottle of wine and that was the last we saw of the server. The appetizer came super fast but the following courses came excruciatingly slow. The calamari was delicious, and a very large portion. The food was OK, service was really slow, and no one came back to see if we wanted coffee or digestif or dessert. Then we waited forever to get the attention of an employee to ask for the check, and we were told to go tell the cashier at the front our table number and we could pay up there. When we tried to let the cashier(who seems like an owner or manager) know that guests should probably be informed of this process, we were interrupted and ignored as she started talking to another employee. I would never go back to this restaurant and I highly recommend you choose another unless you don’t mind paying 100 euro for an IKEA diner experience — although quite honestly, IKEA employees are more helpful...

This place is unfortunately absolutely not worthy of 4.4 stars

we were 11 people and NO ONE liked their food, everything was at best “mediocre”. Don’t eat anything with tuna - they really don’t know how to prepare that. The 16€ “variations of tuna” Appetizer was underwhelming. Let alone the potatoes were very tasty (the only thing)

we were the only table in there (came early). Nonetheless the waiters forgot things we ordered, weren’t really attentive and came across a bit amateur

interior seems nice at first, but its quite cheap, there are much nicer places in the city, where you can sit outside etc

very subjective, but the music is horrendous (cheap, tacky beach house style)

almost no veggie options (the pasta Alla Norma we got in the end was a 3/10)

Un'esperienza memorabile, per tutte le ragioni sbagliate!

Abbiamo visitato questo ristorante poche settimane fa e siamo rimasti delusi da ogni parte della nostra esperienza (a parte la pasta che era deliziosa e le luci delle fate che erano carine). Il vino non è arrivato per una buona mezz'ora dopo l'ordinazione e abbiamo dovuto chiederlo al cameriere quando ha portato i nostri primi piatti. Nessuna scusa per questo. Abbiamo anche notato che ad altri tavoli era stato dato del pane per la tavola e noi non ne abbiamo ricevuto. Ci siamo goduti due fantastici piatti di pasta, ma poi siamo rimasti incredibilmente delusi dal secondo che avevamo ordinato di condividere. L'aragosta e i gamberi erano una delusione totale, € 25 per un pezzo di aragosta di 8 cm e 6 piccoli gamberi in una crema fredda di pomodoro in scatola non è del tutto giustificabile. Il cameriere non ha fatto alcuno sforzo per consigliarci un secondo piatto adatto da condividere. Abbiamo dovuto chiedere di ricevere dei piccoli piatti per condividere il piatto principale, e il cameriere ha appena portato un piatto grande.. non proprio il servizio che ti aspetteresti da un posto che sta cercando di sembrare così elegante. Desiderosi di uscire da lì, abbiamo chiesto immediatamente il conto. Dopo 20 minuti ci è stato chiesto se volevamo il dessert.. abbiamo chiesto di nuovo il conto. Nessun segno del conto 10 minuti dopo, quindi ci siamo alzati per pagare all'uscita. Improvvisamente, dopo un'intera serata a fingere che non fossimo lì, una cameriera si è accorta della nostra esistenza e si è precipitata all'uscita per dire alla sua collega alla reception che stavamo scappando senza pagare. Quando abbiamo spiegato la situazione alla signora, molto ragionevole, alla reception, è apparso il vecchio cameriere "esperto" che era stato molto scortese e sprezzante con noi tutta la sera. Gli abbiamo parlato della situazione, del motivo per cui ci siamo sentiti dimenticati.. nessuna parola di scuse, anzi ci ha detto che non siamo stati dimenticati per niente dal personale di sala. Non ci siamo mai sentiti così a disagio e invisibili in un ristorante prima d'ora e ancora non riusciamo a digerire l'esperienza. Abbiamo ricevuto uno sconto di 15€, grazie alla signora alla reception, ma questo non è sufficiente a giustificare il pessimo...
