We were the first customers for lunch at almost 1:30, but they got more before we left at 2:30. The waitress was great and even had selections for our next stop(Napoli). We had a fresh seafood platter and a beetroot and bacon risotto. The seafood platter was amazing, grilled octopus, local redfish crochet, tuna tartare, raw shrimp a local white fish grilled and also as a tartare, fresh muscles (the best we have ever had). There were 3 of us and I think the chef purposely portioned everything for 3. It was amazing and would serve as a protein meal for 2. The risotto (a specialty of the chef and not really common in Sicily) did not disappoint. It was not gummy like some risotto can be, but give him 20 minutes to make it. This has been our best meal of the trip. Oh, and you must have the canolli. It is a special ricotta cheese they use and pistachios, also the best I’ve ever had.
Getting there early will give you an extra personal touch from both the waitress and the chef. He is obviously proud of his craft, but came out twice to check in on us. Yum! The seafood platter was a daily special and was the most expensive item on the menu, but at 30 Euros still a bargain as it...
Read moreJust as the majority of reviewers have said…a small, cozy, friendly restaurant with exceptional food at reasonable prices. The atmosphere is clean, crisp, warm and inviting. The server was welcoming, professional and helpful in describing menu items. Her English was flawless which made things more comfortable. They even have an English language menu which sometimes scares me because it suggests “tourist trap,” but not here!! The fried tuma (cheese) was excellent…lightly breaded and pan fried in butter. The mixed salad was simple but fresh, well balanced and deliciously refreshing (just the right amount of acidity in the dressing along with the distinct taste of high quality olive oil). The pasta with local fish was perfection!! This place is truly not to be missed. Even the restroom was well appointed and spotlessly clean — not always the case in smaller European establishments. This is a place with 4.9 stars that, honestly,...
Read moreFor enthusiasts of authentic, high-quality Sicilian cuisine, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit! My husband and I recently dined here and were thoroughly impressed by both the exceptional food and the service.
I had the pleasure of savoring the grilled Sicilian-style octopus, which was fresh and expertly prepared. My husband chose the roasted picanha and was equally delighted with the tender, flavorful meat and its perfect execution. For dessert, our hosts recommended the chantilly cream with seasonal fruits, a sublime ending to our dinner.
The evening commenced with a delightful traditional appetizer, and as a lovely parting gesture, we were presented with two homemade cannoli accompanied by almond liqueur. If you are ever in Messina, dining at Rosso DiVini is an experience not...
