Rosticceria Famulari — Restaurant in Messina

I wouldn't choose this one again after trying it. We needed photos of the foods however no english speaking at this restaurant so we had to point at the menu. We heard so much about the Pizza in italy- and we were so excited to try it. This restaurant definitely didn't live up to even being close to my expectations -huge let down. The margarita pizza came without sauce or very little- when I tried to communicate with the waitress in english that it needed more sauce; there was a mix up and she took my entire pizza back to the kitchen. Then I waited and waited......my pizza never came back to me. We finally figured out the waitress totally forgot about it. I only wanted more sauce :( NO PIZZA HERE!!!!

I ended up eating some of my wife's order and then it left a discrepancy at the time of paying which was another embarrassment. It really wasn't an experience I wanted...

Historical and typical Rosticceria Messinese in town, one of the best ever. The Famulari Brothers will welcome you in a crowded and joyful atmosphere where you can enjoy typical pieces of Sicilian and especially Messinese kitchen. You can think of it as an equivalent of “street food”, but this is quite something else. Arancini, Pidoni, Focaccia is what you would have both for street food as for a gathering with many friends at home, as well as at a party. And this is definitely one of the top 5 places, so you have to give it a try. I would suggest to stick to the classic at first, then you can wander into the realm of Famulari’s recipes for arancini... you can taste more than 30...

These are the first arancini we've ever tried. They're better than we expected, quite good and crispy on the outside. Inside there's rice with the fillings. We ordered the original flavor - ragu and salmon. At first we thought the arancini look quite small and 1 arancino may not be enough, but it turns out after some bites, we've become quite full. All the cheese and stuff inside makes it hard for us to finish the arancini (but we did). We are light eaters though. One arancino costs 2.5e. The restaurant seems popular with tourists.
