I like California bakery. However, if you have tried the breakfast or brunch then you need to ensure that you express what you want. In my experience, I have had the French toast. One for breakfast and twice for brunch. The first time it was fried to a crisp, lightly battered and warm to the taste and pleasant on the pallet! it was close to perfection if not perfect. The next two times I came to California bakery, the French toast taste as if they took the bread out of the bag and put it in the microwave for five seconds and served it to me on the plate with powdered sugar and that was it. I expressed this to say this… make sure you express how you want your food prepared and cooked otherwise you’re going to get what they give you. Make sure they don’t bring the ham out the refrigerator, cold on a plate. Make sure it is COOKED. Just like the menu says it is. When the chef brought my ham out to my table, I looked at it and I looked at him and then look at the guy who took my order. And I told him this is not cooked. So they took it back and got it right. Read moreCalifornia Bakery was always my favourite place to go and eat a gancy lovely food, cake with coffee until now. The cakes were hilarious and the atmosphere was amazing. For several years, It was always a pleasure and happy time to be there. But this time when I wnet there after the pandemic I saw so many changes. The quality of food is not what if was before, it reduced a lot meanwhile the prices have risen almost twice!! They used to bring a bittle of water with fresh mint leaves inside, or sometimes lemon, as a welcome to the customer and a good health advice to drink more water, but now the eliminated this with the excuse of COVID. I mean if it’s because if healthy risk people shouldn’t even eat food in the restaurants due to the Covid circumstances, right? 😄But anyway the staff are kind and helpful. And potatoes in the oven are still eatable!🤔what a sadness in...
Read moreThe place is good and clean. However the service was “special” and very unpleasant. We asked a question related to our order and were very surprised by the waitress answer: “It is not my job to ask you if you want a weekly menu or a brunch menu. If I had to do that with all the clients, I will lost a lot of time.” Sorry for disturbing you Miss. In addition of your waste of time, I hope for you to not lose your customers with that kind of communication.
Finally, we ordered two different menus : The avocado toasts with salmon were decent and the serving size good. If you want to try I recommend.
The pancakes were dry and tasteless. We need to pay additionally for butter and sirup.
100€ for 4 people was a bit expensive for the Californian experience (including service, food quality,…)
Even if we had not our best brunch, we wish you...
